I just have these. I think they're a bit shorter than the ones she actually wears -.-; It's kinda of a ghetto costume too. Just wearing for fun though emoticon

They look good, though, because they're big. They have that exaggerated comic book effect, but they aren't over the top/unwieldy.

Cosplay Lab will be presenting a panel on Saturday at 10 am right before costume pre-judging starts. The Prof. will be covering the topics of posing for photos and on stage plus all of you who pose for photos during the panel will have a chance to appear published in a magazine. In the same room, we'll have a "costume emergency repair" area where I'll try to help anyone who needs it. Even if you just want to spruce up a bit before judging, we'll have a full-length mirror available for you to do that. I'll be bringing the usual safety pins, hot glue, sewing needles and thread, and duct tape among other things, but what do you all suggest I should also have handy?

I suggest you have a roll or two of the clear plastic tape that's kinda like duct tape without the threads... they use it a lot in packaging. Its incredibly sticky, and although slighty yellowish (slightly) it is practically invisible.

Also, if you have something like it, those little portable sewing devices... they don't do any great work or work well with thicker cloth, but for small holes and quick patches they are fine.

I'd also suggest having AT LEAST one First Aid kit nearby. Just in case Mr. Fake Giant Sword decides to show off his cardboard creation by attempting to inflict blunt force trauma upon his identical but much better looking twin (ie competition). Some people just can't handle any competition.

Oh, and my personal recommendation (for dealing with large groups of wild American Otakus at once) some sort of electrical safety device... ie a consumer version of a taser or other stunning device. This way a crowd of greasy overweight Otakus fresh from McDonalds doesn't turn into a good ol' game of 'catch the greased pig' when they get out of hand. Teach by example... large heavy objects are just as useful, and shiny things tend to distract them without violence.

Even better than a taser might be a lovely assistant dressed as a cat or bunny girl. That should keep them totally under your control... MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I'm serious about the taser, at least for personal protection. If they start to riot all it takes is one guy screaming and twitching for a few seconds to put sufficient fear in them and save you from potential death or serious injury.

But remember, while I endorse safety through self-defense, GUNS ARE NOT a good method for self-defense. Why? Sure the rapist won't be raping you, but proving it was in self-defense to the rapist's wife's lawyer might just ruin your life.

I think that's the same thing we were supposed to help out with, Dot. Dunno. I have to ask Carmel.

Yay! We'll be in the same room wreaking havoc on-- er, offering guidance to those in need.
*shifty eyes*

Clear packing tape, check. First Aid kit is a good idea, too. Erm, as far as heavy duty self defense in a general sense, I'm all for it. England foolishly prohibits honest citizens from owning guns and has a crazy legal code that ends up offering more protection to criminals than victims, and their situation is bad. Their criminals grow bolder and bolder because everyone's afraid to defend themselves, and it's just outrageous. Meanwhile, here in the US, we can feel free to cap an assailant before he does damage to our families or anyone else's familes. This is good. "An armed society is a polite society."

OK, back on topic...I so wish we still had a mini sewing machine; it would've been great for this sort of thing. Ours suffered a fatal fall from the table, and I've been looking for a good replacement.

Holy Cheese! Were joo that CHun Li I took a pic of in the main hall area?!

It was between the pillars, right outside the hallway to the Bathroom... I was wearing black shirt and pants, and had yellow shoes..
