Megacon Report
Ok, it's been a few days, I'm rested up, so time for a con report.
FRIDAY:
We actually made our way up I-4 without traffic! It was a miracle, this would be great... until we couldn't find where to park. After a loop around the place we found the lot we were supposed to be in. I parked my car, started to get stuff out of the back when this van tried pulling in. So I closed the door and moved and the guy had trouble getting lined up. He tried again, but still left me about a foot of space. So, being such a gentleman... he said "Oh well" and started walking off.
WTF?!?
So I chased after him yelling "Move your van, I can't get in my car!" Dottie stayed with the car with a look of shock on her face. I followed the guy to the elevator and grabbed the security phone, keeping him from going downstairs. Security said they'd be right up, so I hung up and ran after the guy yelling "SECURITY!!! STOP HIM!!!" He kept calling me crazy and tried to run, but I chased him downstairs yelling the whole time. FINALLY someone from security stopped him and made him move his car enough so I could get in and move my car away from his insane ass. What a way to start the day.
Not much was going on Friday. We met up with some friends, played a cool card game (Chez Geek), worked the Anime Sushi table for a little bit and went in the Dealer's Room. The Dealer's Room/Main Room was (as been said before elsewhere) a garage sale. There had to be a dozen places selling bootlegs ($20 for a DVD of crap like "Galactica 1980"? WTF!), not much that really interested us. Dot bought some swords (BEWARE!). I bought some manga. The room was kind of disappointing otherwise.
We headed back to the "Tomoe's", since they were nice enough to let us stay for the weekend. Thus Friday was fairly quiet... after the incident in the parking lot.

Re: Megacon Report - Saturday
SATURDAY:
We all got up early and headed back to the con early Saturday morning.
The "Tomoe's" had a panel first thing in the morning... but it was the same time as the opening of the dealer's room. Bad timing. After that we were supposed to have a 'Cosplay Q&A' panel... that no one showed up to. Pretty much all of their questions were answered at the booth. So we helped a little with the setup for judging and played more card games (Munchkin!), hung out a bit, went to lunch and came back to help with the Cosplay.
While Dot changed into her Ninja outfit, I helped with the line for the cosplay... first I got them in line, then they gave me the power of the MEGAPHONE! BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!! I got to yell at people to back up and stuff. Told some kids if they crossed a line I put down that I'd throw them out (and BOY did they stay RIGHT on that line!), when they started chanting I yelled "I AM MUCH LOUDER THAN YOU, SO BE QUIET!" and made other announcements before we let them in to be seated.
Dottie had been in full Ninja gear, so I put on my T-shirt ninja outfit (don't ask. ^_-) and we became STAGE NINJAS! Dottie helped people get on stage, and helped the MC with pronunciation and such, while I helped them off stage and show them to their seats.
But my moment of glory was soon to come...
Some butthead, against the rules, put fake blood in his mouth and let it drool down his face and puddle on the stage. With lightning quick Ninja Reflexes (STOP LAUGHING!) I rushed on stage and pulled a napkin out of my pocket (which I had left there from lunch) and started to clean the mess. Another Ninja Pocket contained another napkin holding cookies (soon given to Dottie) so I was able to finish cleaning up the mess. "Stage Ninja! He slices, he dices, he does floors..." and such was heard from the crowd who seemed to appreciate my quick reaction. ^_^;
The rest of the cosplay went off without a hitch, pretty much. We were tired and didn't stay for the dance.

Re: Megacon Report - Sunday
SUNDAY:
A rainy Sunday greeted us that morning, so we eventually made it to the con... and the parking lot was closed. x_x So we parked around back and got wet... but it was FREE! BWAHAHAHAHHAA!
Iron Cosplay started soon, so we BS'd for a bit and then began setting up. Our competition this time was Pikabelle and she set up what appeared to be several thousand Pikachus facing me. I retaliated by taking a small pikachu and making it look like it was going to be burned at the stake.
The competition started and Pikabelle walked out to her theme music... a version of "Butterfly" with Pikachu. She 'shocked' me at the point in the song and I fell down, the crowd loved it. Well, we couldn't take that sitting down... so we did a sort-of Team Rocket intro for ourselves...
<Dottie> To protect the world from commercialization
<Me> To save the kids of this generation
<Dottie> To denounce the evil of Pokemon
<Me> And extend our reach to every con.
<Dottie> Dottie
<Me> Joe
<Dottie> We are team Dejiko Joe!
<Me, 'James' voice> Surrender now, or prepare to sew!
<Cassie, holding up a Dejiko plushie> That's right, Nyo!
And the crowd loved that even more!
The theme was Samurai and the secret ingredient was Aluminum Foil. We worked hard on a Amidimaru costume from Shaman King, while Pikabelle found a Samurai from a couple of eps of Pokemon. She also dressed her Pika Plush up as Kenshin.
Part way thru the battle, I tried to kill the little Pikachu I had tied up... and it seemed like our side was rushed by 20 people. Pika-fans are quite venemous!
At another point I threw a tinfoil ball at a pikachu on her table and knocked it down... the MC's gave me a box of Pretz.
Some psycho kid rushed up and tried to take the wig that Cassie (our other teammate) made out of aluminum foil and my Dejiko plush... security threw him out. Damn that was scary.
Near the end, I took a full roll of foil, handed one end to the audience and pulled it across the stage. People were confused, what was I up to? I did it again to empty the roll. then I held up the empty paper tube. "I needed this." I said.
Finally we were done and judgement came... WE WON! YEA!!! *does happy dance* Pikabelle did a great job, and it was very close. We were happy to win, since this was our 'retirement' match too... Since the wedding is coming up soon. Next time it'll be whomever vs Kim.
Oh, I forgot to mention we didn't use the sewing machine... Dot's broke, we borrowed someone elses and that didn't work with the materials we had... so we gave up on it.
After Iron Cosplay, Dot went to the J-rock concert... no friggin clue who they were. Circ De Solei? Psycho de Lemur? Something like that. I vegged in the hallway for a while.
And that was it... we said our goodbyes, and headed out of that dreadful place known as Orlando.

Re: Megacon Report
Psycho Le Cemu, or PLC for short.
I'm kinda sorry I missed Iron Cosplay, but its just started off so slow, and these two guys sitting in front of me and and my friend were comlete jerks, since my friend is short, and she couldnt see around them, and they wouldnt move, So we left.... But it sounded like it was fun.

Re: Megacon Report
It was fun having you & Dottie over. Judging Iron Cosplay this time must have been hard because both teams had great costumes that were just so different from each other. Pikabelle's was the Kenshin type and was pretty well-made from what I could tell. And she dressed up her Pokemon too. ^_^ You guys had the armor and crazy hair. I was hard to compare apples to oranges. Anyway, it was a fun time, and Team Dejijoe will be missed while you take your Tibetan sabbatical.
We'll have Iron Cosplay photos up soon. Contest photos just went up last night. There's a funny one of lightning-fast Ninja Joe cleaning the stage. Of course, being a ninja and all, you couldn't actually see him. http://www.cosplaylab.com/events/megacon/2005/cosplaycontest/default.asp

Re: Megacon Report
I heard mention of Star Wars figures in glad bags. Where they cheap or were they charging rediculous prices for them ?
I'm also curious as to whether any dealers were selling anything from the new Transformers anime in Japan called Transformers Galaxy Force.

Re: Megacon Report
The ones in glad bags looked to be the extremely old figures
As to Megacon, it was awesome. The ride home on Sunday and the events following were unfortunatly not.
Team Degijoe is number one! http://www.risingsun.net/gallery/megacon2005/sunday/source/mc2005-2383.shtml
