That was a pretty weird WTF link today. Here's what Wikipedia says about chavs:

It seems to be just some goofy slang with unknown origins.
And no, we 'muricans don't speak the same language as the Brits. It's only similar.

yeah my friend is living in england now after her visa expired here. she dind't have an accent or anything but her mom and dad did, and they said tills and bins and wireless's after a while i knew what some of their words meant but i knew the language is slightly differnt. i orginally wanted him to write that chav was the equivelent of 'wigger' but i guess he dind't hear me. oh well. i don't really have enought time to write the he said she saids even thoguh for the last month theyve been mostly just 'he saids'
