i need a mom's help!
i stupidly fell and hurt myself on my coffee break this morning and aside from a bruised ego and several cuts i'm left with a rock embedded in my hand and i can't get it out (even with tweezers or a knife!)...any hints?

Re: i need a mom's help!
elmers glue might do the trick ~ we have used it on splinters and the like. Just a little dab will do ya and if it adheres to the little rock it might just dislodge it.
If I stumble into anything else I will let you know.

Re: i need a mom's help!
the rock's still in there (2 days later)...you can't even see it anymore...the glue thing wouldn't have worked because the rock was too far in...we tried tweezing it out...i was digging around in there with pins and tweezers but no luck...i've just been keeping it really clean...i guess i'll have a rock in me unless it pushes its way out somehow...
i'm not going to the hospital because i'd be waiting there for like 6 hours and that's just ridiculous...universal health care isn't all it's cracked up to be...i'd rather just pay somebody to get it out for me...so stupid...they need to open some private clinics here so those who can afford to can avoid the asinine wait times ugh

Re: i need a mom's help!
quote: when i was in highschool i walked around for 3 days in a half a needle completely inside my big toe...i thought i just pricked myself on it but when it still hurt like hell 3 days later and then i found half a needle on the floor in my room i put 2 and 2 together and went to the hospital...wait times weren't as bad back then lol...they had to poke a hole in the other side of the toe and pull it through!
I couldn't have handled that for anything ~ would have dropped like a deadman.

Re: i need a mom's help!
Guessie - the homeopathic remedy (boy I'm saying that a lot today) for embedded 'foreign objects' is Silica - you would take 3 doses a day over 3 days. It helps expel the foreign body. Is also good for boils that won't expel - I've given it for this before and literally seen the little 'pellet' from the middle of the boil shoot out and the boil then cleared beautifully. Worth a try anyway - it's cheap and doesn't have any side effects. Definately don't continue to 'dig' at it - that's more likely to give you infection than the grit.
As lost says watch out for signs of infection, throbbing, redness, red streaks etc

Re: i need a mom's help!
You would get it in a health food shop or a pharmacy that stocks alternative remedies. It might be spelled Silicea or Silica - if you decide to buy some let me know what potency or strength it is, generally the public can buy 6x, 6C, 30C - if you can get 30C that would be best but anyone will do it's just you would need to take it a bit more often. I can advise depending on which you buy. Worth a try anyway.
