Acupuncture... My best friend lives in Switzerland, and she's been sooooo stressed and depressed lately to the point where like her skin is breaking out, she's getting injured so she couldn't excercise for a long time, and her periods had pretty much stopped...doctors there are so expensive so she couldn't afford a visit with one...but then she started going to acupuncture and she said it's been a complete turnaround! She says it's like mental and physical therapy...her injuries have healed so she can run again, and her skin is clearing up and her periods have become regular for the first time in her life! Just thought I'd let you know that it seems acupuncture is a great stress reliever and healing tool!
Re: Acupuncture... I have heard that those that believe in it believe in it strongly, there seems to be no middle ground. I am a bit of a wuss, I can deliver 10 plus pound babies, return to work the day after being released from the hospital after having had a c-section (visit work I should say) but I just can't see me signing up to get myself stuck like a voodoo doll. I'm not sayingI have totally ruled it out, cause a person never knows, but I just haven't got there yet.
Re: Acupuncture... I took a continuing ed class for my licensure on chinese and eastern medicine and acupunture was an element of that. It is fascinating and I do believe that something that has been effective and around for thousands of years does have legitimate merit. The whole concept of qui (pronounced ch-ee), the energy field surrounding the body, it very interesting and I do believe those that have found relief from it. The needles barely enter the skin, only to re-direct the energy flow, and from what I understand are not painful. I would definitely try it as long as it was from a licensed acupuncturist.
