congratulations! ...when i tell people i'm engaged some of them feel the need to tell me the high divorce rate of people my age lol...real nice!

37 years is pretty amazing. My Grandparents are the longest married couple I know getting near 70 years~ mid 60's not sure exactly~ as we get closer to Sept. 11th someone is sure to mention it.
The divorce rate is high, to me it's just another statistic. A long time ago couples hung it out at the cost of great happiness and personal safety I am guessing~ because divorce wasn't as accepted as it today. They might have stayed married longer, but looking inside the marriage I am sure for many would have told a very different story. Couples will either make it or they won't~ Guessy you have every opportunity for it to last a lifetime & I hope that it does. Marriage is all what you both make of it.

Guess, by 22 I had been married a few years and had completed my family.

Thanks folks, I think the secret is we never take it for granted that we will still be together next week, so we continually work at it. And yes we have had many ups and downs over the years but we have weathered them. And bottom line is we are also good friends, very important imo
