2 Year Check Up
Livy had hers this afternoon. Everything went fine. We met with the newest doctor in the practice. A lady I am guessing late 40's early 50's and she was so nice.
I was so surprised to look at Olivia's shot record. Wow they do get a bundle. I think for the time being other than an occasional booster we are done with them. I opted for her to have the flu shot. I don't remember that being encouraged with the boys. Would have to check their records to know for certain, but I don't believe they received the flu shot. The vaccinations make me nervous. I don't take them lightly and I very thankful we got through them without any serious side effects.
They gave her 50th percentile for her growth statistics. She is tiny, she weighs 23.5 pounds. But she eats anything that isn't nailed down and she is constantly on the go. Her diet is filled with all the goodies she needs and she seems pretty smart so I am not very concerned about her size, nor are the doctors. Mom always said even when I had the boys, don't force food. Give them a nice selection of healthy choices and variety and naturally inside of them they will choose what their body needs. I followed that with them they are fine and stick with the same for Olivia.
She can now have 2% or skim milk. We have always been a whole milk home. Home of the Red Caps here. So I haven't decided if we will switch to 2% or keep on with the whole.
We spoke in pretty good detail about the medicine recall. Pretty much parents were overdosing their young children. To be safe the meds were pulled. She said ideally they like a common cold to run its course medication free. And even when the meds were on the shelf they felt that same way. So she said as she practices the recall affects very few of her patients. Her biggest concern is folks taking dangerous liberties of purchasing meds for a 6 year old and cutting back the dose think it will be safe for a little one. She said if Olivia gets sick and the cold doesn't run its course as it should call and they will obviously help. Which I knew that. So we'll just keep on as we do.
And she goes back next month for her second flu shot. I guess the first time a person gets 2, which I didn't know... maybe it's just little ones. And after that they will see her when she is ill or when she turns 3. Wow it goes fast, way to fast for me.

Hi Lost - glad all went well for the little poppet! I'm amazed they are giving flu shots to healthy young children? here it's for the elderly or those who have chronic illnesses but hasn't been mentioned at all for the little ones. It sounds like all is going swell with Olivia which is great. Re. milk, it's always full milk in this house - i occassionally sneak in some skimmed when I'm trying to cut back but hubby has threatened divorce if it or 'pretend butter' become regular items in the fridge! Our kids don't drink much milk - they mostly drink water but they do eat a lot of cheese's and yoghurts.

I don't believe I had the option of the flu shot with the boys. The only reason I opted for it was because my Grandfather was critically ill and I thought if it allowed us to be in better health so we could visit it would be good. She gets it 2 phase she had 1 injection that day and 1 will come in a month. Hearing your hubby say that put a smile on my face... that was my Dad and Mom to a T. Red Cap Whole Milk and real butter I think were part of their marital vows, lol. Dad was a stickler for both.

It sounds like Olivia is doing fine on it, it's just i hadn't heard of it here. Yes - full fat or nothing in this house! LOL! luckily we've no cholesterol issues or i'm sure it would change. Mind you hubby hasn't been to a doc as long as I've known him so ignorance is bliss!!
