Wow ~ 17 6 year olds, I can't even imagine. I bet everyone sleeps like logs tonight. It's a Party Animal weekend for us both. I hope you guys have a great time and the kiddos enjoy themselves (and behave :) ) I haven't painted a face in years ~ its so odd when someone mentions something and it hits me that I had forgotten about whatever "it" is.

I hope the party is so much fun and hope there is good story or two from it. Have a great day Suzi emoticon

Re: My peanut

Phew we are exhausted!! Only 9 kids turned up but some siblings also so about 12-13 in total. Unfortunately some clingy moms also hung around which was a nuisance as it just limits things I think. But it went very well, the weather was looking dodgy (Ireland doncha know) and it rained in the morning but the sun shone for us and we'd a lovely day. It's raining now but we don't care we got the day out of it. Our little man got loads of pressies and they all ran around like mad things for 3hrs! They played v.well together and he'd invited a few girlies also who were v.sweet. Our older kids were great and our big man (who has AS) did some footie with the kids etc. All in all it was a good day. The mom's tho....god...."eh, excuse me but what are the children supposed to do"......"play" sez I....christ, it's like if you're not entertaining them they aren't having a party. We like to sit back (of course making sure all are safe and within sight) and let them play together as freely as possible rather than butt in all the time. I sent the mom's off to get themselves a coffee at one stage - you'd think they'd enjoy the prospect of a few hours off on a sunday afternoon? I don't know, i suppose we've had kids for longer than them but we had 2 adults, 3 older girls and our older lad keeping eyes out, all stationed in different area's etc - all were safe. Anyway, generally a great party and lots of fun had.....oh and lots of junk eaten too LOL! Mind you we brought bowls of grapes and strawberries too to 'dilute' the junk food and they went down a treat.

How is Olivia's birthday w/end goin? are you all having lots of fun?

Our party was nice ~ no organization just the little ones getting together to play... And I laughed out loud when I read your post because my nephew just had a party turning one and they do things by the book, very organized Mother's Hovering like crazy ~ it makes me nervous. Trying to have games and the like for little ones that age is just too much and I really just like putting a few toys out and a couple balls and allowing them to have fun. I call it organized chaos ~ lots of junkie goodies to eat and playtime. Her party was nice, she got some really fun stuff that I think she will like and I am glad the festivities are over because I am like you I am exhausted.

So glad you had a great time and little guy received neat gifts. And I am even envious of the rainy evening :)

Re: My peanut

I suppose for a 1yr old party maybe I can understand hovering (not me but for others) but really - I think i'm getting old or sommat but I see more and more parents who don't give their little ones any breathing space at all, on top of them all the time. Of course be safe, that's an absolute but sit back and just watch and see what they will do. I read a good book called I think 'how children learn' years ago, can't remember the authors name but the theory was that if you hand a child a game like e.g chess and leave them to it, just watch and not interfere that they will work out how to play with that game (maybe not to the rules but a definate game) whereas if you jump in teaching them from the off then they sit back and just receive info so don't have to think, problem solve etc. I thought it was a very wise book. Must look it up again.....

Belated happy birthday to the peanut!! emoticon We celebrated our son's 6th 2 weeks ago so I feel your pain with all those little ones. We had a school party for 23 and a private pizza dinner for 8 kids. I'm still tired...... Happy belated B-day to both Mayhem little ones!

Thanks Red and to your Little Guy as well. I got away easily with Olivia's school/daycare I just took treats for 30 ~ I included the bigger kids because they are so cool with her when she gets there in the morning. I didn't have to do an organized one there because she is too little yet (thank goodness, I need to ease back into this)- I am still pooped from the weekend. Was glad to return to work today so I could rest & if you knew my boss on Monday mornings you would know that's saying something :)
