How long do you use a crib bumper?
My 7 month old likes to sleep with her face next to the bumper. I can move her all I want, but she's still gonna wiggle right back over to it. There seems to be plenty of air getting to her.
I have a port-a-crib in my shop that I want to buy a bumper that fits (I have a full-size bumper in there now)..but I don't want to buy it if you only use the bumper a couple more months ( I have to get it at a specialty store...I can't find them at Wal-Mart)
This is my third baby, but the kids are so spaced out (16, 5, and 7 months) that I can never remember what to expect.

Re: How long do you use a crib bumper?
Livy still has her bumper... she is going on 2 and ready for me to convert the crib to a junior bed. She is the only one of mine who made it this long in a crib, but she sleeps like a stone. Both of my boys had bailed out of their cribs by a year old. So for them a crib bumper that late in the game wouldn't have been a good choice, for Olivia it would have been fine.
Not much help I guess. I would say if she is making moves like it won't be long before she tries to get out on her own I would hold off. But if she hasn't tried to be an escape artist to this point you will hopefully be good to go.

Re: How long do you use a crib bumper?
We took ours out when my son started being interested in undoing it etc. It was probably sometime after 12 months since he never was interested in anything other than sleeping before that :). Every child is individual (see, ours never even tried to climb out of his crib) and being 7 months (and I assume rolling herself over independently), she should be ok and not at as much of a suffocation risk. Use your best instinct since you know her the best and another wonderful site to get advice etc or read what others have posted about children the same age etc is www.babycenter.com. Hope that helps a little!

Re: How long do you use a crib bumper?
I am thinking babycenter is where I was when I was pregnant with Olivia ~ it was a forum as but just like I did here I didn't know about everything it contained ~ I should have peeked around more. If it's the place I am thinking they'll have a discussion group for each month for several years & I bet lots of other good stuff too.

Re: How long do you use a crib bumper?
Well, you are the second mom to tell me you don't take it out...but I had forgotten about them trying to undo it.
Like I said, I have a fulll size one in their now, so it's not totally secure and she sucks on the strings. Guess I had better get one...even if she will only use it for even 5 more months.
