My Space ~
My boys don't tinker with it, so I don't deal with it in the house. I know everyone I know who has kids a bit younger than my boys 10-15 ~ their kids are on it constantly. My bosses granddaughter was in the office yesterday, she wasn't in my office 2 minutes and she was logging in to show me her space.
A story on digg tonight caught my eye. I guess because Katelyn had just showed me her page yesterday... it's a long story so not sure if folks will take the time to read it. If you have a child that uses my space, or even chats with folks online I think it is definitely something you should make time for.

Re: My Space ~
Oh lord...how dreadful...I am terrified of those sites and we don't have anyone on them yet as our son isn't interested but i reckon it won't be long before the girls want to....i'll be very slow to let them.

My one friend monitors her daughter on there pretty well... she said it is just unbelievable how much stuff she has to ask her daughter to remove. The daughter feels like she is being "babiefied" and bucks it a little bit ~ she wants her site to be as cool as everyone else's. But Teresa said some of them are just basically porn. Raunchy pictures taken with cell phones and the language. Guess the language and sex talk is just unbelievable for kids. I am very thankful the craze kicked off at a time where it wasn't an issue in my home, but my goodness when you think of the kids all over the place on the computer and no one taking an interest to peek over their shoulder and check what they are into, it is scary. We have different tv shows that have done stories on the internet gone wrong and they get me so worked up I have had to quit watching them. And I don't like that about myself, but I get all worked up when I see kids hurting and have no way to help. I know hiding from it doesn't change the fact that it happens... but just like this story... I have thought about that girl, her family, and those folks in that neighborhood several times today. My heart breaks for the loss, it was senseless. It was cruel.
