Another first for our little guy- first trip to the E.R.
Well, I knew the day would come and Monday it did- we had our first trip to the E.R. for my 5 year old boy. He was trying to do push ups with his legs on the couch and one hand on the coffee table and the other on a little stool back and yep, the stool tipped back and he went BAM! on the edge of the coffee table. He hit so hard I thought he might have broken his jaw or neck! We checked him out and called the E.R. ahead (my husband's an MD and was actually on call that night too) to talk to the doc that was on. Guess those 14 years of school, med school, residency, and fellowship and all mine for nursing finally paid off for things like this. Anyway, by this time a gash on his chin was starting to bleed (real delayed bleed) and he was crying because he didn't want to go to the hospital.
Xrays on his head and neck were negative (he was SOOO good and thought they were cool- you could see his baby and permanent teeth!) thank God, but we still needed to get the gash stitched up. Well, it took 4 of us to hold the strong little bugger down! The lidocaine took forever to numb him up and he was getting himself all worked up etc (he said "I gotta get outta this place. I gotta go"- it would have been sute if he wasn't so upset). Finally, he got numb and he ended up with 4 stitches! Of course, he was fine when the nurses all gave him lots of attention and a coloring book for being so brave and we went out to get some chicken nuggets after the trauma (his choice).
At vacation bible school the next day, he was telling everybody the story and was proud as a peac0ck. Boys. Too funny. The lesson about listening to mom about doing that stunt will still be reinforced, but he learned it the hard way that day.

Re: Another first for our little guy- first trip to the E.R.
Wow I just asked in the thread before how Little Guy was~ I can't imagine hearing him screaming he had to get out of there. Thank goodness it was minor~ when something like that happens though it's scary~
We've had many stunts gone wrong in this house. Alex my 15 year old has no Fear~ never did and he's taken a few knock. Olivia is the exact same way. If I cam in here and found her hanging from the track lighting I wouldn't be surprised...
Zak was pretty good~ he got hurt he settled. Hopefully your Guy will follow in that method~ it makes things a little easier on the ticker that way.
