Miraculous!
Boy, aged three, survives 11 days lost in Amazon
05/10/2007 - 20:16:56
A three-year-old boy who was lost in the dense Amazon rain forest for 11 days is still in hospital tonight after being found dehydrated and covered in thorns.
Despite the risk from jaguars and snakes, he was otherwise unharmed.
Neilson Oliveira Lima disappeared from his home in the rural community of Pupuai, Brazil, on September 16, according to Amazon as state police officer Ailson Carvalho, and was found 11 days later two miles away, with thorns all over his feet and legs.
“He went in the forest following his father and he got lost. He was found by his cousin, who was out hunting,” Carvalho said in a telephone interview from Caraurai, the nearest town.
“Nobody knows what he ate or how he survived.”
The boy asked for water but said nothing about his ordeal, Carvalho said.
A receptionist at a hospital in Caraurai who declined to give her name said the boy remained there tonight under observation.
Evanise de Oliveira Lima, the boy’s mother, told CBN Radio she expected him to leave the hospital soon.
“In the jungle near the house, there are jaguars, hawks, snakes,” she told the radio station. But his guardian angel and God protected my son.”

Sounds like another Jungle Book story. Wonderful though.

Miraculous!
That could have had such an awful ending. But the story had a sunny conclusion.

Re: Miraculous!
We were just talking as a group at lunch this week. We had something awful happen that headlined our local news and it was said it sure would be wonderful if the news could even have one little tiny segment of something good that happens locally. Doesn't seem we get those kind of news stories anymore.

Re: Miraculous!
Lost1...that is true. Ages ago, when Walter Cronkite was on the news, he would have a 'lighter side' story a few times a week. I wish they would do that again... I don't watch the news now because I have enough drama in my life to mull around, let alone get caught up in more.

I know what you mean... I mentioned in another thread (I think about My Space) that I get so sucked in and worked up when I watch the horror stories on the news and news magazine shows, I have to be careful about what I watch because that type of stuff eats at me forever. I feel horrible hiding from it, but I do have to distance myself or I get in such a funk. That story about Maddie eats at me daily. I'll be honest I still fret about Jon Bonet... It is so frustrating to hear of folks suffering and not be able to protect everyone.
