College Football
Granddad taught at Pitt, my brother is a diehard Penn State Fan. There for a couple years to see him in anything other than Penn State attire of some sort threw us for a loop.

Re: College Football
My loyalty and love will always be with the University of Michigan, my alma mater. Played in the band, marched in the Rose Parade 3 times as a representative of this great institution, went to lots of Rose Bowls (and others too that were great), personally met Bo- a sweetheart of a man, and am a volunteer student recruiter in my area. As you can tell, I am more than proud of the great history of tradition at Michigan. We helped set up MSU, developed and first performed Script Ohio (I saw the original plans myself by Dr. William Revelli- the father of all college marching bands), and introduced ND to a game called football long ago (yup, its true). I bleed maize and blue and believe there is nothing better than football on a clear crisp Saturday afternoon in the fall in the Big House watching the men of Michigan with those beautiful helmets take the field. GO BLUE! :)

Re: College Football
That is so cool you have such a passion for U of M and share it with others recruiting, they have to be so pleased you take time to help. Your passion has to speak volumes to the kids and that's great.
What is a Script Ohio? Is that what they call the formations that the bands do on the field? I do love to watch that & I will admit I love it when someone goes the wrong direction - I can't help it :)
We had a great Marching Band leader when I was in school Mr. Formick- 20 years later I still remember his name :) , he was such a fun guy. I have wondered several times what ever became of him. I sure hope he kept up working with kids. He made alot of difference in many lives. He really got alot of students involved in band and football because he was so passionate. Very cool that you have stayed involved.

Re: College Football
Remember that movie with Richard Dreyfus about the music teacher that inspired his kids? What was the name, hmmm... Anyway, it does show how someone can reach kids through music. Thats so great you remember him!

Re: College Football
mr. Hollands Opus and I have goosebumps because I was thinking the same thing when I was writing my post. Mr. F did reach kids through music.

Yes. Just started following them when I first moved over here in 1979. Being a Catholic I was told I "must" support Notre Dame. I hate it when people tell me I "must" do something, I generally do the opposite! :ROFL

Re: College Football
"I musts" don't go over real well with me either, I am a bit of a hard-head I guess. Just something about them when said a certain way ;)
Red is very very into her Michigan team, you and her will have a bunch to talk about. She even recruits a bit for them I believe.

Re: College Football
I don't recruit for the team- that would be against NCAA rules lol! I'm a volunteer alumni student recruiter for Michigan itself. Don't want to get the program in trouble now. Glad to see another Wolverine Wolf!!
