Re: Proud Grandmother
So tiny and amazing.
And I snapped pictures for days of my second nest of birdies and didn't realize the setting were wrong on the camera~ one of the ones one the last day I took worked though.
Nothing elegant, but we sure enjoyed both nests.

Re: Proud Grandmother
This link came from Susa's Sunroom and shows the little baby hummers from birth to leaving the nest (21 days).
Take a peek and also if you could pop over and place a vote for Susa's Sunroom on the board of the month contest that would be great. The Deep Purple Board has a lot of steam built and Susa has a great board. Only takes a second :)
Baby Hummers ~ Thanks Susa's Sunroom

Re: Proud Grandmother
Lost don't know if PA is the right zone for it...but if it is see if you can get what's called "Shrimp Plant" Hummingbirds thrive on it's nectar and it will draw them from miles away...
For years my Mom complained about no Hummingbirds visiting her gardens and then her Dad suggested the Shrimp Plants and with in a month after the first bloom in the garden outside the kitchen window...Mom was visited by at least 3 different species of HummingBirds including the Ruby-Throated. Now (or least before she left us back in 95), her garden is visited by hundreds of HummingBirds.

Re: Proud Grandmother
Wow Granny
My Grandma is actually stopping in this afternoon so I am going to ask if she is familiar and we have the most wonderful nursery near work. The man who owns it is just a perfect to talk to about stuff like that. I am definitely going to look into them for next season

Re: Proud Grandmother
If Shrimp Plants won't grow in your area...the best way to get HummingBirds to visit is to plant plants they like..I'm sure your "Nursery Guy" will know exactly what plants you'll need.
