Re: Autism Awareness Month
Well today went ok. He worked well. the hours are 9.30am - 1pm and then 2-3pm. He got through till lunchtime. The tutor was outside hanging round but when he saw her he told her to go away that he was fine. When asked if he wanted to be picked up at 1pm he said "If I want to be picked up I'll ask to be picked up" LOL!! So she went off and went back around 2pm. He came out just after that - he'd had enough so I do think just doing it up till 1pm will prob be the way to go. The last hour is usually just a summary anyway. The tutor spoke to the lecturer (who's just a post-grad student but a nice guy) about giving us the class notes so our guy doesn't have to write so much - he's going to email them. Our boy found the maths a bit easy so got bored. Anyway he went in and almost did the full day. Was ok when he got home but not 100% sure re. tomorrow. I think we can talk him round - the initial times are always tough. He was happy when I told him I'd worked out how to run a new game he got for his b/day - our pc didnt have enough RAM "ah yes, I thought that might be the problem" LOLOL!!
anyway another day down. I've had a 2 day migraine.....hubby says I look yellow today...I will sip a glass of wine and try to get an early night.

It sounds like it is going to work out~ I am really pulling for you guys and he is sharp re:quote: "If I want to be picked up I'll ask to be picked up"
He makes me chuckle but I always enjoy the company of someone sharp

I really think this is going to come together and I can't wait to hear what he has to say about it tomorrow. Keep me posted my best to you and the crew. Rest up and drink up

Re: Autism Awareness Month
So far so good. It went well yest and he finished up at the lunchtime break. They are now discussing the work for next week which is physically building stuff (he wants to do a circuit for recording music directly from his guitar to the pc) so he is starting to get excited about that.
Poor thing last night came up to me and said he had a sore finger and showed it to me.....sore finger?? Massive swollen red hot finger (twice the size at least) and he also had pain under the same arm from the lymph glands!! How long had it been like that? "oh several days"....seemingly he'd got a thorn in it from being outside and had decided he could get this out himself using the nail clippers........anyway we bathed it and bandaged and gave him the appropriate remedies - this morn much better, pain under arm gone thankfully and the abscess was clearing out nicely but finger still a bit swollen so we're continuing with the meds for a couple of days....."I suppose it was rather stupid of me to try to get that out with a nail clippers"....I just re-inforced the fact that while he can try to sort things out himself it's prob a good idea to let one of us know what his problem is so that we can help......I'm sure that didn't help how he was feeling all week either.
Anyway he's gone off this morn in good form so hopefully the day will go well.

Re: Autism Awareness Month
Poor guy, I bet that hurt like crazy and no doubt had something to do with how he was feeling as well as how he was acting.
I remember when Alex was a little guy, early toddler ~ his lymph node at the arm pit swelled and I freaked out, almost died on the spot as I thought for sure it was cancer and I was going to lose him. I am not as knowledgeable as you in the medical dept. s
So I collected myself and him, a box of tissues and off to the pediatrician we went. She explained to me it (obviously) wasn't cancer as cancerous cells do not grow like that over night. That has always stuck with me too and come in handy to know as it seems someone always has a child whose lymph nodes swell. And that when that happens it can be painful. Alex's was a result of a cold and that's where infection settled. As long as I live I will never forget waking up that morning and seeing that lump when I was getting him dressed for the day.

How cool is that
I know if I had had the things he had on top of going to a new school I would have been like a bear with a sore paw~ he has to be completely dedicated. I bet next week the physical build is going to keep him completely enthralled.
I'll wish him a speedy recovery & I hope things have settled for you a bit with the migraines and stress. And I love hearing about how he is doing~ I really do, thanks bunches.

Re: Autism Awareness Month
Thanks Lost - it's one big rollercoaster!!!
Poor you getting that fright - they do come up quickly under the arm but can happen in the groin and neck also. Our youngest woke up with a huge one in his neck one morn - I thougth it was maybe mumps but it wasn't - was from a throat infection and we sorted it out. The joys!
