Globe Life Sucks the Big One I went to get some life insurance on Goo Bear. I have some through work, but if something happens to be it would be gone. Well Globe Life turned her down just because of the autism. Now this kid is healthy as a horse. She is on NO MEDICATION. Her medical records will tell you aside from the ear infections, which were due to allergies and is now under control, she has no health problems at all. Now I have a friend whose kids are sick all the time, yet she has no trouble getting insurance for them. I just want to scream and beat up someone.

Isn't that discrimination of some sort? Can't something be done because I just don't see how they can get away with that. If I think of it I will ask Shawn if he knows of a company who will insure. I would think he should be familiar.
Re: Globe Life Sucks the Big One God how awful!! We don't have private insurance (there's a public system here that works ok) but for those who do have it there is what is called 'community rating' so all people pay the same regardless of age, health etc and no one can be refused cover community rating
How dreadful for you - can you try some other companies? I think contacting your local autism assoc might be the way to go to get some names?? sorry but I have to say this BASTARDS!!!

Re: Globe Life Sucks the Big One What is the reasoning behind denying her benefits? As you have stated she has a perfect bill of health. What about Autism makes insurance companies hinky about extending coverage? And why would there be a higher premium?
