a good start can make all the difference, it really can. So happy for you ~ things are good here, just so busy with work. Once I catch a break where I can concentrate properly I will share Justin's progress. Happy for you guys, I really am ~ I was very stressed when we kicked off.

Re: EEK!!

Well it had to come....the phonecall...just about to sit down to lunch when we got it. He was freaking out in the hallway at lunchtime cause they wouldn't let him into the library. The library was open and other kids were in there but the teacher he had an incident with last year was in there and because of that he wasn't allowed in. Why they couldn't just schedule his library time I'll never know. My hubby went in - our son was shouting a lot and got worse when he saw my hubby. School is his domain and like any other teen i'm sure he didn't want us there. Anyway hubby left and he calmed etc. He didn't hit anyone, he didn't break anything - he did use threatening words like 'i'll hit anyone who blocks my way etc' but didn't do anything physical. I think a couple of the garbage cans got a kick.......the kid loves the library - it's his haven. They just need to schedule it so that he can use it when this teacher isn't around.

Anyway - he was ok when he got home but v.v.tired. He still went to cycling club tho' and cycled 13 miles tonight...poor lad....

He'll be fine - but here we go again...

Aww, I am so sorry he had such an ordeal today. Its a tough age, on top of everything else. At least he has a healthy outlet like cycling for that pent-up anger and frustration. I would definitely see about scheduled library time and geez louise, this teacher needs to be the adult and try to move past what happened in the past. They could definitely try to work something out though. Give him a big hug (if he'll let ya) from all of us tonight and one for you all too. emoticon emoticon

Everything Red said & a hug for Mom and Dad as well. Must have been in the air today (I'll post in the other thread). I really hope the teacher who he had an incident with can have a little forgiveness and understanding. Additionally they know he loves the library and should schedule accordingly.

I can only imagine what a huff he went into when he saw his Dad coming ~ that's not an easy thing for anybody. I know I never wanted my parents coming through the doors.

Hopefully they get the scheduling worked out so it goes smoothly next week and continues throughout the year.

I love how he loves the library ~ I always liked it too. We'll be thinking about you guys, let us know how it goes upon the return.

Can you possibly speak with the teacher there was a problem with and smooth things out?

Yes - they are making this into a big deal. IN our son's opinion this happened before and now it's gone. Ok it shouldn't have happened but it did, the teacher has milked it big time (claiming breakdown etc) - ok he did hit out at her, his hand made contact with her, there were no marks, she didn't fall over, she didn't show any signs of the contact etc but she is claiming amnesia, nervous breakdown etc etc etc....anyway he of course should not have done that but she is going to town on it.

anyway we'll get there - must talk to him about it today....groan!

Re: EEK!!

well good luck with the talking ~

and that teacher sounds like an ass, pardon my language. Its like she just has no concept of reality. She chose education as her field and had to realize an incident with a student could happen. And I am not saying she should go to her job and expect to fight for survival ~ but its obvious that wasn't the case here. I wish she would be grown up enough to realize the set of circumstances behind initial incident ~ there are circumstances there to consider. Sounds to me like she is possibly not at the maturity level she needs to be for the profession she chose.

Regardless ~ I guess you really can't allow her to interfere and I do hope things get worked out.

emoticon to a good talk today

Oh Lost that's only the half of it, she also reported him to the police for assault.....you can only imagine....anyway they threw it out especially as we'd worked wiht the school for 2yrs before and they hadn't bothered to train staff etc. She is just milking the system big time. THere's no question that she got a fright but that's all it was, a fright. He shouldn't have done it but the reasons why he did were autism based and were based on the fact that she totally mismanaged him (and in my opinion put him at risk!)

Anyway - we'll get there....somehow!

Re: EEK!!

It doesn't surprise me. I sat in court one day while a child who was in psycho ed (Kids in psycho ed are so mentally/emotionally disabled that they can not be housed in a regular school setting) was sent to jail for 90 days and expelled from school for bumping into a male teacher who was twice his size. The teacher claimed assault and had no witnesses to back him up, but sent the kid to jail anyway. In GA it is an automatic felony charge to assault a teacher. On the same day, in the same court room, I watched while two gang members with a rap sheet as long as your arm, was sentenced to 90 days for jumping on a weaker child and beat him so bad they broke his jaw. His crime? They wanted to score points with the gang and he was weak and they knew he couldn't fight back. Go figure............ emoticon emoticon emoticon

That's outrageous and discriminatory. That poor little boy - what would 90 days in jail do to a kid like that? Jeepers - I shudder to think.......mind you they should throw away the key with the gang members...

I do keep all correspondence with the school typed so it's stored on my computer and I follow up EVERY note or comment or phone call with a letter. If I hadn't had the paperwork to back up the incident we had I think we may have been in trouble. I could prove that staff hadn't been trained etc.
