Step Families
It seems in the area I live step families are so much more common than the family that has stayed together from day one. I know very few families who are not a magical blend. Making it work can be difficult and stressful, but when it all comes together is is so wonderful. If you have traveled this road and found things that have worked please share. If you have questions please ask. I would be willing to bet someone who finds their way here has dealt with the situation you are asking about. It's a place to share what you have learned and also how you have handled things. It's also a please to learn and understand things from a different point of view that isn't always considered. Experience can get us through alot and if you'll kindly share yours it can help someone else who is acquiring theirs.

Well I didn't want us to lose touch after the show, there are alot of fun people at Guessy's who we only know a small bit about because we stick pretty close with the show. Thought this would give us a place to hang out.
Your little gal... I don't know too much as it relates to blending a family, but I have heard from every one of my girlfriends that girls at this age are like ticking time bombs. Pre-puberty I guess is a wild ride, so... if your house turns upside down don't necessarily think its because you "made it official" a big art of it could be that this all happened right when everything started happening inside for her.
Please share what you are picking up along the way too, it's sure to help someone else.

Being the oldest in my family, ah it is really just mom, my sis and I who are full blooded..
My dad, is really my step father, and my brothers are all half brothers..With that being said, I think that I being the oldest talked of how I messed up, and gave advise to them..They are all doing great..They listened to my words as such and did not make the mistakes I made growing up...
I only wish I wouldv'e talked to my nieces and newphews though..:( Have not been able too as they live far away now...

I thought I'd come by and visit and I found this thread.
All of my children have a 'step' dad. However none of them will tel you that and he won't either unless you make him. He's their dad and they are 'his boys'.
We were lucky I guess, I have extremely amazing kids and they are all very loving, and Forrest (my spouse) is too. We didn't have it easy all the time, and there was the usual 'you aren't me REAL' dad things but patience and communication and honesty and above all lot of love and patiece wins.
They are all grown now and still say Ilove you to him and me too in public and hug and kiss both of us. Step families can and do work- if the work is put in, just like "real" ones.
I hope you don't mind my two cents.

Emm ~ 2 cents us all night 
It has to be such a great feeling that it you guys were able to accomplish what can be impossible for others. It's so cool to hear when it does work. So many families are in the middle of finding their way~ I love to see when someone can say we got through it and we love each other.
