A sad day chez moi....

We were just eating our supper when the dog started to bark like crazy. The kids looked out and said there's a car at the top of the drive and the man got out and is looking in, not usual out in the sticks where we are! So I went out and he said 'I hit a cat is it yours?' - yes, it was our dear Mr.Winks (he winked!) he had died instantly. The driver was a young guy, very nice and very apologetic. The cat had jumped right out and he couldn't avoid him. So we buried poor 'winksy' tonight and are all a bit sad and sorrowful. We're glad it was quick and the guy was nice and stopped but we'll miss him - his 2 siblings are wonderful but he was a favourite as he was so friendly (they are outdoor cats for 'working' re. rodents). Here are some pics of Winks:

I am so sorry for everyone. Wow was Mr. Winks gorgeous ~ he had the total comfort good life look in the relaxing picture. Very sorry it happened but so glad he didn't suffer and that the young guy stopped and let you know. I am sure he did so heavy hearted, those types of accidents are just so hard to have to tell the family about, I am glad he had it in himself to do so. So sorry you guys lost your favorite ~Winks was beautiful and obviously very happy. I'll be thinking of you guys.

Thanks Lost, our 2nd girl (9yrs) is still upset today but she'll come round. It is hard to lose them but the circumstances were as good as they could be. Poor guy - he was a beauty.

I hope her heart heals soon :) That's a hard age for a little girl to deal with something like that. And he was so beautiful. You have wonderful pictures of him & I know now when we decide to go through a picture box out at Grandma's it's wonderful to stumble on a picture of one of our pets.

She went down to his burial place in the morning and sang him a song! She's a v.sensitive little thing and I'm sure when telling her friends today will cry. But we did our best for him while living and when he went so she will come round. How wonderful you have Grandma's to sit and reminisce in!! We don't have that so it's very precious!

No Blue....its a RAT!!! We live way out in the country side in the fields and unfortunately they come with the territory (we have streams too which encourage them) but since we've had the outdoor cats haven't seen one apart from when they are killing one. However winks was the best ratter so the others will hopefully take up his role. They are all a bit lost still and mewing around....one used to sleep on top of him so she is definately out of sorts.
