Okay everyone, here's the next part. And, as promised, no one's harmed. emoticon

*******************************************

Cliff and Lilith scrambled to the shore and threw on their clothes, unpretentious of whether or not they were on right. They raced down the path towards the scene of the commotion. There was no one in the cabin as they burst inside save a burly man in tattered clothing and a hockey mask, holding a machete that luckily was free of bloodstains.
''Psst, over here,'' came a whisper from outside the cabin. The two of them bolted out of the cabin and behind a cluster of bushes where James, Lars, and Kirk were hiding.
''Good, you two are safe,'' Kirk whispered.
''Sorry I didn't believe you, James,'' Lars apologized with fright in his voice.
''To tell you the truth,'' James began, ''I didn't believe it myself. I was just trying to scare you guys.''
''Oh sh*t!'' Kirk hissed, pointing at Jason who was making his way towards the bushes.
''Quick! Into the van!'' Cliff shouted.
''We can't make it into the van. Not with that human juggernaut in the way!'' Lilith shouted back.
''Run!'' Lars cried as Jason wound back the arm that was gripping the machete. They sprinted in the opposite direction of the cabin as it swished by them and pierced into a tree. Jason removed it with one quick tug and followed them deeper into the woods. Suddenly, they came to a large ditch.
''We'll be safe here,'' James assumed as they scattered into the ditch and huddled together.
''I think we lost him,'' Lars spoke as he gripped a root.
''Let's hope so,'' Kirk replied.
''Lilith, in case we don't get out of here alive, I just want to say one last time that I love you,'' Cliff said as he held Lilith tight.
''We're gonna make it out of this,'' she replied and buried her head into his shoulder, ''I know we will.'' At that moment, a ghastly crack of thunder announced the coming of a storm. James blurted just about every obscenity known to man as a torrent of rain poured from the sky.
''At least this is as bad as it's gonna get,'' Kirk stated.
''Actually, I think it's about to get worse,'' Lars shuddered as a flash of lightning revealed Jason Voorhees overlooking the ditch, ready to kill. One by one, they climbed their way out of the ditch. The mud made it an obsticle, but the roots supplied footholds and lessened the difficulty. Kirk was the last one to make his way out from the hole and his feet slid from one of the roots, causing him to nearly loose grip. He grabbed James's hand and was pulled to safety. The five of them, soaked, muddy, and frightened, scrambled through the woods until they stumbled upon a sight that caused their hearts to skip a beat. The corpse of a man, decayed and eyes gauged out, was pinned to a tree by a knife.
''That's going to be us if we dont get the hell out of here,'' Cliff shuddered, wide-eyed as he studied the battered corpse. Lars removed the knife, causing the corpse to topple in Lilith's direction. She yelped and leaped out of the way as it fell to the ground and Lars hurled the knife towards Jason. It lodged into his leg, but he removed it as easily as he had pulled the machete from the tree and hurled it back in their direction. They managed to evade the knife and bolt deeper yet into the forest.
''Quick, into that cabin!'' James cried. They burst into an empty cabin that was far smaller than the one they had planned to reside in. They bolted the door shut and huddled in back of the cabin, listening to the rain pounding on the tin roof and the eldritch boom of thunder. Lightning would occasionally illuminate the cabin, revealing to each other their faces, soiled with mud and the look of fear. Suddenly, the door came down with an ear-shattering crash and in the doorway stood Jason, a silhoutte against the now frequent bursts of lightning.
''We're screwed now,'' Lars spoke as Jason limped towards them.
''Wait a minute, where's Cliff?'' Kirk questioned, glancing around. It was then when everyone noticed that Cliff was missing.
''Hey Jason! Yeah you, ya big f*ckface!'' Cliff shouted as he walked through the doorway carrying a tank of kerosene. Jason lowered his machete and turned around. James, Kirk, Lars, and Lilith fled out through the door as Cliff drenched Jason in kerosene, dug into his pocket, and produced a book of matches. He swiped a match and cursed as it failed to ignite.
''Cliff, watch out!'' Lilith cried as Jason reared back to take a swing at him. It was out of luck that Cliff summoned a flame on the second match he tried. He tossed it at Jason and he immediately burst into flames. Cliff shot out from the cabin barely a minute before it began to collapse in a blaze. They all found their way back to their original cabin, luckily the rain had ceised by then, and they packed their luggage into the van faster than they had brought it in. Smoke wisped through the trees as the fire began to engulf the forest. Everyone boarded the van and, with a loud revving of the engine, zoomed out onto the main road. Jason Voorhees was no more, and neither was Camp Crystal Lake.

******************************************

I'll post the next one soon. I scarfed some coffee so I can at least write it tonight. Woo-hoo! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm glad you all liked it! emoticon

*******************************************

They could see smoke rising and hear the wailing of sirens as they sped down the open road. The only thing on their minds was the fact that they had escaped the campground all in one piece.
''That was some scary sh*t back at the camp,'' James remarked after yawning noisily, ''thanks for saving us, Cliff.''
''No problem. I'm just glad we're all alive.''
''I think we could all use a celebration,'' Kirk chimed and tossed everyone a beer. ''Now let's find a motel and get ourselves some sleep!'' Lars took a swig of beer and rolled down his window, ushering in a burst of cool night air, musty with the aroma of smoke.
They gave up on searching for a motel and pulled into an open field around five in the morning. James, Lars, and Kirk spread out a tarp and fell into slumber immediately while Cliff and Lilith turned up the radio and sat on top of the van. Cliff sat behind Lilith and had his arms wrapped tightly around her as they gazed out upon the expanse of tall grass that seemed to roll on for miles until vanishing into the horizon, tinged with a shade of cornflower blue. A breeze combed through their hair as Burning For You by Blue Oyster Cult began to play on the radio.
''Home in the valley, home in the city, home isn't pretty, ain't no home for me. Home in the darkness, home on the highway, home isn't my way... home will never be. Burn out the day, burn out the night; I can't see no reason to put up a fight. I'm living for giving the devil his due... And I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you. I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you... Time is the essence, time is the season, time ain't no reason, got no time to slow. Time everlasting, time to play besides, time ain't on my side, time I'll never know. Burn out the day, burn out the night; I'm not the one to tell you what's wrong or what's right. I've seen signs of what went through... Well I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you. I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you... Burn out the day, burn out the night; I can't see no reason to put up a fight. I'm living for giving the devil his due... And I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you. I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you...''
Cliff kissed Lilith's neck as the song faded along with the last stars of the night. He allowed her to lean back on him as they grew weary with sleep.
They awoke to the horn blaring and the sun beaming down upon them.
''Get in here! We're leaving!'' James hollered from inside the van and honked the horn again. Lilith and Cliff climbed down and hopped into the van.
''I don't know about you two but we slept like rocks,'' Lars remarked as he squirmed around in his seat.
''What's wrong, Lars? Something up your ass?'' Cliff joked.
''No, I forgot to put my window up. Now the seat is all wet from dew.'' He grabbed the folded tarp and laid it on the seat before sitting back down.
They arrived at home later in the afternoon and raided the kitchen for whatever bits and pieces of food they could find.
''Man it's great to be back,'' Kirk sighed, flicking on the television and setting it to the news channel. A man was standing before a smoldering pile of rubble.
''I'm now standing before the remains of what once was Camp Crystal Lake. We believe the fire was caused by a bolt of lightning during last night's storm...'' were his words. Everyone paused and gathered around the television as the man continued on about the fire.
''If anyone ever finds out it was us, we're in some deep sh*t,'' James stated and bit a chunk out of a stale cheese wafer.
