Re: Home is Where the Heart Is
I'm thinking of moving the fic over to the new board, but I'm just gonna wait a couple days and see whether or not everyone's gone there for good.
********************************************
It was the day of the wedding, and Lilith was getting ready in the small room in back of the chapel. Sunlight filtered through the stained glass window like a veil of gold and cast the dancing shadow of a tree branch on the mustard-yellow wall. She adjusted her dress, simple and white with a fluted hem and lace straps. Then she placed around her neck the silver heart-shaped necklace Cliff had given her for Christmas. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Lilith opened it to find her mother standing there bearing two suitcases packed with the rest of Lilith's belongings.
''Hi, mom. I'm glad you could make it.''
''Honey, you look great.''
''Thank you.''
''I believe this is my first time seeing you in a dress since you were five.'' Lilith smiled and took the suitcases from her mother.
''I can't figure out what to do with my hair, though,'' she remarked, lugging the suitcases to the corner of the room and placing them on the floor.
''I have an idea,'' replied her mother. ''Sit right there.'' She snatched an elastic hair band from the shelf and motioned for Lilith to take a seat on the white stool. She divided her hair into three sections and began a braid.
''So have you and dad gotten divorced yet?'' Lilith implored.
''I'm supposed to go down to the courthouse on Monday and fill out some papers. I guess the divorce will be final after everything's sorted out and your father finds himself a place to move.'' She fastened the braid and nestled a white fabric carnation where it began at the nape of Lilith's neck. ''The only thing the damn fool is good for is paying the bills. We haven't even made love in years.''
''Well, hopefully you'll be able to find a job in time for the bills.''
''Yeah, well I heard the YMCA downtown is currently hiring. That should add some stability to my life until I can find a better job.''
''That's good,'' Lilith replied, brushing on a little blush. She didn't especially enjoy wearing makeup, so today she only applied enough to define certain features. The room took on a soft floral scent as she spritzed on a puff of perfume.
''I stopped and talked to Cliff on the way in,'' her mother began. ''He seems like a great guy for you.''
''Yeah. To tell you the truth, we practically fell for each other a day or two after we met.'' Lilith smiled and reached for her veil.
''Well, I'm going to give you some time to yourself now.'' Lilith's mother got up from her seat and brushed a wrinkle out of her powder-blue dress. ''I or someone else will come get you when we begin,'' she said and smiled at Lilith.
''Okay,'' Lilith replied her pulse beginning to speed at the thought of the wedding.
Lilith's veil danced lightly in the breeze as she was escorted out to the chapel yard. The leaves of a nearby oak tree shimmered in the westering sun. Rows of beige-painted metal chairs were lined up on each side of the aisle, which was a burgandly carpet spread out on the lawn. People had already begun filling the seats. Nearby the oak tree was a long table upon which sat the wedding cake, plastic cups, and dozens of white flowers. Lilith looked up and spotted Cliff standing on the other side of the chapel yard. He stood there fiddling with a broken plastic cup, his eyes fixed on the ground. 'Could he be nervous too?' Lilith thought to herself, recalling how calm and collected Cliff usually is. It was odd seeing him in a tuxedo, because it was quite a change from him usual jeans and t-shirt. He met eyes with Lilith, and a smile crept across his face.
There was a five minute delay as two more carloads of friends and relatives piled in before the wedding began.
Lilith could feel the dozens of eyes upon her as she strode slowly down the aisle, clutching a bouqet of white flowers at waist-level. She nervously fingered the thin, velvety petals, her breaths short and shallow. At last she joined Cliff at the podium and sucked in a deep breath of the fresh, sea-sweet air. His gaze comforted Lilith as they said their vows.
''I do,'' were the words that tasted sweet and smooth like honey to Lilith as they left her mouth. The drumming of her heartbeat melted to a slow pulse and her mind relaxed, for she knew at once that she and Cliff were free to be together, and nothing would come between them. The two of them wrapped their arms around each other and kissed. Lilith partially opened her eyes and saw random bursts of camera flashes from the audience.
It wasn't until early twilight that the chapel yard had almost completely emptied. The lawn was littered with paper plates and flower petals. The stillness of the foliage and the mild glow of the dusky sky made the scene appear rather ghostly, in a cozy way, that is.
''You two can go on ahead. We'll clean this up on our own,'' James insisted, crushing a plastic cup and tossing it in a trash bag.
''You sure?'' Cliff asked.
''Yeah, of course. Afterall, you two are the newlyweds.''
''Alright then. Take care.'' And with that, Cliff placed his arm around Lilith and escorted her to the van.
''See you after the honeymoon!'' Lilith called.
''Keep in touch!'' Kirk called in reply, who was attempting to play what appeared to be hackey-sack with a tattered paper plate.

Re: Home is Where the Heart Is
*takes deep breath*
enjoy
********************************************
They had dinner at a shoreside restaurant that had exquisite food and a great panoramic view of the ocean. Afterwards, they took an evening stroll on the beach.
Cliff scooped Lilith into his arms for a kiss. A foamy sheet of tide swept over their feet as their lips locked. He drew back slowly and gazed lovingly at Lilith. Lilith had always loved that gaze. She felt so safe and loved when she was under it, as if it were a spell.
''Cliff, I just wanna say thanks,'' Lilith spoke.
''For what?'' he questioned.
''You know. For everything. For taking me away from my parents when they were treating me badly and for caring about me when I felt like no one else did.''
''There's no need to thank me. I love you and I'd do anything for you, Lilith,'' he replied and kissed her forehead. Lilith nuzzled her head beneath his chin and they stood there in silent embrace for another few minutes until they decided to leave.
''Ouch,'' Lilith hissed as she stepped on half of a shell jutting up from the sand.
''Want me to carry you?'' Cliff asked. At first Lilith thought he was joking, but she knew his joking voice from his serious voice.
''It's okay,'' she replied. ''I can just put my shoes on. And besides, the parking lot is all the way over there.''
''No, really, if it'll make it easier on you I'd like to carry you.''
''Well, are you sure?''
Cliff smiled and hoisted Lilith up into his arms. Despite his slender frame, he was really quite strong. Lilith had a great view of the stars as Cliff cradled her and continued foward. He let her down at the foot of the stairs and Lilith strapped on her sandals.
''Thanks for the lift,'' she said.
''No problem.''
The beach house smelled fresh and crisp as they stepped inside. It was small yet quaint, with a living room, a kitchen, two bedrooms, and a nook where a rectangular table topped with a ceramic vase of faux flowers stood. Cliff and Lilith shared the larger of the two bedrooms that had a balcony with a hanging wicker chair that overlooked the ocean.
''It's wonderful here,'' Lilith remarked as she opened the glass sliding door of the balcony. ''You can hear the ocean and everything.''
''Yeah, it would be great to live around here, but I can't be too far from the rest of the band since our next album's in the making.'' Cliff was unloading clothes from his suitcase and placing them lightly in a drawer.
''Well, I'm gonna go get ready for bed now,'' Lilith spoke. She grasped a towel and her night clothes in one arm and wrapped the other around Cliff and kissed the back of his neck, causing him to tingle.
Once she entered the bathroom down the hall, she rolled her braid up into a hair clamp so it wouldn't get wet when she showered (her hair took ages to dry). About fifteen minutes later, she re-entered the bedroom in a shrunken and worn ZZ Top t-shirt and black, lacey boy-shorts. Her usually straight hair flowed in light waves caused by the braid it had been bound in. Cliff was in a wooden chair in front of the bed, flipping through the channels of the television. He turned his attention to Lilith and smiled.
''You look amazing,'' he said, nearly losing his grip on the remote control. Lilith smiled and perched on his lap facing him. She kissed him tenderly, passionately massaging his tongue with her's. Cliff held her closer to him as he began to feel himself harden. Lilith slowly unzipped his jeans and stroked him.
''Wow, you sure are wearing the pants tonight,'' he said jokingly in reply to her take-charge attitude. ''But then again that was kind of an oxymoron,'' he chuckled and looked down at her bare legs, grinning. Lilith laughed and continued stroking his shaft. He was so stimulated that he almost wanted to lie her down and f*ck her right then and there, but he had too much respect for her to just go right ahead and do that. Lilith took off her shirt and pulled Cliff into another deep and sensual kiss. He cupped her breasts with his large yet gentle hands.
''Mm,'' he moaned. ''You're so hot.''
He felt he would soon come until Lilith stopped and said, ''Oh, just take me already.'' Cliff picked her up and laid her gently on the bed. He gazed hungrily at her almost-naked body as he stripped off his clothes. Lilith admired how gorgeous he looked in the pale blue and white flashes of the muted television. He looked valiant and romantic, like a character that had just stepped out of a romance novel. He met Lilith in bed and began planting soft kisses on her collar bone. She released a sigh of contentment as his hands explored her body. Cliff slid a hand down her panties before removing them and felt that she wanted him just as badly as he wanted her.
''Cliff? Hold on a sec,'' Lilith spoke, her voice faltering with bouts of pleasure.
''Mmph?'' was all he could say as he kissed her breasts.
''It's been a while, so please go easy on me.''
''I will,'' he replied, coming back up so his face was level with her's.
He slid into her slowly, and Lilith gasped faintly with pleasure as he began to penetrate deeper. He gradually thrust a little bit harder once Lilith was ready. She held onto him tightly with one arm and clenched the sheets with her other hand to supress screams of pleasure. They both climaxed at the same time, having the most intense orgasms either of them had ever had. They took a moment to cool off before going at it again. A veil of moonlight now poured in through the door, and the soft evening breeze carried the sweet scent of the ocean.
''I love you so much,'' Lilith said, cozying up to Cliff. He took her in his arms, whispering an ''I love you'' back.
