Anyone here go to Donington 04?
What a festival, Slayer, Slipknot, Machinehead & Metallica...well almost!
I thought Joey, Fleming and Dave were amazing.

One Metallica show I'll always remember and be glad to be part of. Could so easily have been cancelled.

Nope, went to Glasgow instead, smaller venue, Donnington is too big for my liking, managed to get backstage for the 2nd day which was great!

I got hospitality at Donington - only saw a few famous faces. Was nice to chill out at the private bar mind.

We stayed at the Tulip Hotel across the bridge from the gig. Went to the gig, saw Metallica and were in the mood for a party after. Sat in the hotel bar drinking Jack (as you do after a gig  ) The sound crew came in to hotel (they were staying there) and it turned out I knew one of them - and had a couple of mutual friends with the rest of the guys. Gave us a AAA pass for the next day. Saw Iggy Pop close up, friend was on stage with the Distillers. Back at the hotel that night met the Lost Prophets (nice guys, the guitarist is sweet, he was having a Hot Chocalate and going to bed on his own like all good little rock stars in the making)

Do you mean Lee Gaze??? Blonde guy with a pierced lip??? If so, I met him last year at the Top Of The Pops studio. He noticed my Maiden shirt and chatted. he also gave me his pic after their song. Saw him and the singer backstage at the Met show in Paris last summer too. Top man!!!

Other than Metallica, the other great band I saw were Damage Plan, Viking Skull and Arch Enemy - there was a lot of crap there as well.
