Where are all the Northants Mods?
Hey all,
My other posts are related to my time in Glasgow, But I moved to Northants in 1984...
So what happened to...
The Psychodots SC
The Hidden Charms...
Karen Jones the hairdresser
Jackie jazz
Paul Dowling
The other Paul (sorry no surname)
Lenny
Crighton Parry
All the "Chaps" from Northampton itself... (West Hunsbury)??
The Leamington lot
The Banbury lot
The Loughborough lot
The Brum lot
The Leeds lot (esp Gillian Hague)
The Dog and Duck in Wellingborough...
Wollaston working men's club...
Also the No Idea (sorry!) SC. Mark Bale, Kurt Fricker etc...
I was at a soul night in Devon (where I live) recently and caught up with Guy Joseph...
As I was reminded By Rab MacNamara... Me and Lorraine got married and then rode up to the Blackpool run '86 on a Lambretta. (with a "JUST MARRIED" sign on the rear rack...) Best. Honeymoon. Ever.

All those memories... Kinda makes up for always being skint...
And finally, anyone remember a band called The Reason why? Biggest gig we played was in Northampton supporting a well known "revival" band??
Phew! Well any news or memories greatly appreciated. My memory isn't very good due to continued disregard for my body and brain by means of repeated consumption of vast amounts of chemicals...

Have a look at the 'Mods in Leamington and Warwick' post on the previous page where you'll find a list of folk you might know.
As for what they are doing nowadays, most are keeping their heads down, some turn up at northern soul allnighters and tribute bands etc.
I remember coming over to Wollaston R&S Club , I remember a few people from Northants but can't remember their names. Your face does look familiar though!
Two guys from your way came with us to the Lowestoft CCI rally in '87, both on Lammys, one with side panels that kept popping off. I remember the Police trying to calm things down on that rally after some locals in a Ford Escort had knocked a Psychodot girl off her scooter and te rest of the Psychodots rode round town until they found the car at some traffic lights, and demonstrated their group solidarity, not ones to be messed with!

Here's (left to right), Paul Dowling, Lorraine (who became ex wife no.1!) and me in '85/'86...

Ah yes, many familiar faces there...
The helmet on the GP is from The Young Idea SC from Norwich area... Remember Kurt Fricker? Here in the foreground... (I'm on the left wearing a cycling shirt)
Forgot to say that Paul Dowling in the photo was the drummer in The Reason Why...
The guy in the photo was from northampton, Chris White, here he is...
When I left TRW He joined as lead guy, they changed their name to "Reason to Move"
Me and my mate Harry from Wellingborough used to come down to Banbury and Leam a fair amount. I think I even went out with a girl from Banbury for, oh, at least a fortnight...
Some faces here should be familiar...

Yes that's Gots and Rhyl, plus someone whose name I can't remember in your second from last photo and I see Dino from Banbury in the bottom one.
Wasn't the guy standing to the left of Iona in this photo from Northants?

Oooh...
That guy is Tom (I think) I've no idea where he was from...
It's all a bit hazy to be honest... 
I used to (and still do) a fair amount of, er, stuff... Hey, I'm a musician... I used to DJ a bit now and then as well, in fact I did a set the night we got the James Taylor Quartet to play in Northampton.
I wish I knew then what I know now...

Wow looking through this has brought back so many memories!! All the do's back then, there was not a weekend went by when one of the mod societies wasn't putting on a do.
I remember the Banbury lot used to put on do's in The Horse and Jockey, The Elephant, one held there ended up in a massive fight when the Scooterboys invaded!!! Banbury held a good do in one of the villages, Guy Joseph and Dom Bassett guest Dj's and local Hells Angels bounced on the doors!!! LOL
The Leam do's were good to in Whitnash, also we used to travel to Northampton alot to The Dog and Duck and to a Polish Club if I remember correctly?
If I remember the scenemovedinot Eliteism which killed the scene slowly ...
The video of the80's IOW rally was brilliant
saw somany people on there that I had forgotten about. Also saw me and my friend Becca on it, which was a weird experience!
The only mod left in Banbury now is Andy Avery, he originated from Leamington but moved to Banbury in the 80's., he used to take hundreds of photos at every event, would be great to see them one day. On the video is an interview with INKY from Scotland, she married Andy Avery.

Was that there Chris White the kid who used to run The Scene fanclub?
If so he was the first bloke to ever call me Gazzer - years before that footballing geez turned up.
There was another kid from Northampton used to come down to see us - Martin Conner possibly?
