Favourite memory #1
Has to be going from Corby in Northants where I lived to Mansfield to see The Clique...
I was on a standard PX125 and it was winter...
So I set off with the usual two changes of clothes in a bag on the back rack but no waterproofs (!).... Uneventful journey up there, decent venue and a good event etc...
However, at some point during the do somebody came in to the main hall and started chucking snowballs about... Where did they get them?
From outside on the bloody pavement, that's where! Six inches of fresh snow (I kid you not)...
Oh well, too late to do anything about it now, carry on dancing till the do kicks out...
So, at the end I went out, waved bye to all my mates, got togged up and went to leave. It wasn't actually snowing at this point so main roads home and all should be ok...
Except my rear tyre was flat! So I had to tip my scoot onto it's side, get the spare out and change the wheel... kneeling in the snow... The snow that then started to fall again...
Well, the journey home was just the most incredible one of my life. I stopped for fuel at one point and the guy in the petrol station could not believe I was out riding a vespa in really heavy snow. When I told him I was riding to Corby he nearly ****in passed out...
Ever ridden in really thick snow? With my visor shut I couldn't see for steaming up, with my visor open I couldn't see for the snow hitting my eyeballs... Fourth gear became a distant memory as I struggled for grip, mile after mile. I passed several abandoned cars, including one in a ditch, but did not see many being driven...
When I eventually got home (yes I did make it), There was a layer of snow on the front of my scoot four inches deep and a matching one on the front of my parka... Once I had a cuppa in my hand in front of my fire and switched on "The Hitman and Her" (now there's an unbidden memory!) I started to thaw out...
A nightmare, but still totally worth it!
To this day the windows screensaver that is supposed to be a star field reminds me of the snow coming at me on that journey...
Cheers,
Paul

Eeeeeeh, ya don't get snow like that nowadays eh. Lol. Hitman and Her - lol, how funny was that? Clive always made me feel slightly quesy in his white wig and red pvc thong. Wrong on EVERY level. Haha.
Thanks for sharing that.
--- My love is in and around you, I bless the day that I found you.
