Ar Tonelico 2 and PS3 80g
I just picked up Ar Tonelico 2 and I have the Backwards compatible 80g. I don't know if anyone else has tried it, but I'm just getting the PS2 screen then it goes black, which usually means its not currently compatible. I was wondering if there were any plans in the near future to fix it. I hate to complain because I love the NIS games, but is sucks to not be able to play them.

I haven't tried this myself, but it's certainly possible that it isn't currently compatible. It only just came out, so I really wouldn't be surprised. I think Sony has a list somewhere of currently compatible games.

i don't mean to sound negative but i thought sony said they no longer support BC at all now. They won't be increasing compatibility or anything in any firmware? I swear i remember reading that when they announced the new ps3 80 gig version (without BC).

I have the old 80g that is backwards compatible, but my understanding has been that if it's not backwards compatible it is up to the developers to make it, but i'm not sure. I may have to break down and just buy a another PS2.

Guess this one gets played on the small TV when I manage to pick up the game. I've been fairly lucky with my PS2 (at least from what people seem to claim about the lives of their systems), as I bought it soon after they cleared up their supply issues and have never had to repair or replace it.
Still, I'm really liking the PS3 system link on the PSP to play my old PS1 games (who would've thought I'd spend the money for a PS3 and PSP and end up playing games I've had sitting around for years on them?). Then again, other than Disgaea 3 and movies...

I've heard the news from other section that AT is playable in 60g PS3 but unknown to what extent it will work.
80g PS3 is using emulation software and it has less PS2 playback compatibility than 60g PS3 which using emotion engine(cpu that runs in PS2)

Yes all PS2 games should be backwards compatible on the 60g, but for those of us stupid enough to by the 80g and sell their PS2 my question is more I am I the only one with this problem, or is it just not fixed, and do we know if there is any intention of fixing it.

Sony was working hard to continue fixing the emulation software. Always keep your firmwire up to date.
Unfortunately, the economy crisis has strucked Sony to lay off many workers. In any rate, the emulation software will be discontinued as they already said that they have no budget to continue the development.
My best suggestion is to buy a PS2. A used PS2 in gamestop cost about $60.

I don't know if this will help you any but I have a 60GB PS3 and I got to Phase 4 so far with no problems at all.
