WANTED: Good Monsters

I'm at Chapter 4: "A Gigantic Problem," and I'm about to face Mt. Champignon, and it's Eringers and Shroom Dragons.

My highest level for any character is 10, which seems to be the lowest level of my enemies.

I need to recruit some strong monsters, and quickly. Any suggestions to which monsters those might be up to this point?

I find that the Bears are good, but I haven't really tried any others, like the Blooms, Spirit Fires, Mr. Moos, or Gremlins. Are those monsters any good?

Should I even try recruiting any Eringers, if they even stronger than I am, and probably will end up handing me my own a**?

Well Mr. Moos have buttloads of HP and a sleep attack, so you may want to try them out, but they're nothing special. Gremlins on the other hand have unbelievable DEF. With some high DEF equipment and their natural DEF, they take practically no damage. They also have decent attack, but a pathetically low movement range. And yes, bears are definitely a good way to go. You may or may not want to go get another bear or two.

I really prefer the gremlins as they have great defense, as Daverost says. They work great as scapegoats to lure the enemy to where you want them. This way one can focus on setting up miracle attacks. Give them defensive equipment with the "pink" support spell type attributes. Now you also have a tough denfensive monster who can also raise the stats of itself or other party members with skills like Braveheart.

I had Prier, Croix, Culotte, Alouette, and a Bear at 15; that got me through Chapter 4 ok.
