Advance Wars Series
Through the series, I've learned that this is not just a simple strategy game. This is way more than anyone's mind can comprehend. Advance Wars games are the mind's drug and must be taken every so hours. Picture a game of chess, except that the king and queen piece can snort crack. I've played all Advance Wars games and this game is the ultimate in terms of strategy and foreboding. Though it didn't give as much recognition as I wanted it to have, beggers can't be choosers, right?
Story: Could be better, but I liked it. I've got nothing much to say. An organization called Black Hole is trying to invade Macro Land which is home to Orange Star, Blue Moon, Yellow Comet, and Green Earth
countries. You play the role of Orange Star CO's to drive off Black Hole.
Controls: Very simple controls. Even my 5 year old nephew can play (but won't know what he's doing -_-).
Gameplay: Ingenius gameplay! I've never ever played a strategy game better than this. Not even (in my opinion) Warcraft III can top this game, and IT'S A PORTABLE GAME! If you want to know more of my obsession of this game, please read the introduction ^_^;
OVERALL: I give this 9/10
Even though I believe this is the ultimate strategy game, there will always be flaws in a game ^_^;

Re: Advance Wars Series
I've been following the series since the Game Boy Advance release and I've always enjoyed them. In fact, Advance Wars: Dual Strike was one of the major reasons why I purchased a DS.
I suppose I'll plug this site as well:
Advance Wars By Web is a fan made web based Advance Wars that allows you to play online. The creator really did a great job emulating the Advance Wars feel and it is worth a shot so long as you can stand waiting a couple hours/days between making your next move.

Re: Advance Wars Series
I’m playing the first Advance Wars using an emulator and I’m still in the tutorial stages with Nell. I can’t get past the super tank thingy. Not sure what it’s called…

Re: Advance Wars Series
My first run through the first Advance Wars was, believe it or not, a complete total failure. I wasn't good at the game at all, and all my grades didn't even graze an "A" rank. I did have one thing though, which was my love for strategy games. I didn't do well at first, but I loved it, even though I lost. After a couple of weeks of playing through the story and skirmishes, at the time, I wasn't touching anything but an "S" rank. In a matter of months, I was unbeatable between my friends. Then, the tournament arrived. I gave all my brain power to these matches as the CO Kenbei. I got 2nd place, and recieved a free full pre-order of Advance Wars II: Black Hole Rising.
This is my Advance Wars story...

Re: Advance Wars Series
Advance Wars is tight. The one for DS is especially cool with its CO tag-team system.

Ditto here. I waited on a DS til it came out.
For the PSP I just grabbed Field Commander and it's the same game. I would have said "basically the same game", but it's more than basically. So if you have a PSP and want that Advance Wars feeling, you'd like Field Commander. From the Gamespot review:
quote: Field Commander does bear a number of similarities to the Advance Wars games on Nintendo handhelds, but has enough going for it that it stands just fine on its own.
I'd have to agree with that completely.

Re: Advance Wars Series
Simple yet surprisingly deep, I really love the games in the series! I've totally overplayed Dual Strike and I might play it again and again in the future until a new sequel comes up.
--- All right,
