Yup yup. And nope, no PS2 version. It was only released on PS3 & XBOX360.

Then, I'll pass. I don't have any next-generation console. I just have PS2 and Nintendo DS Lite.

Re: What’s your Favorite Game EVER?
Holy... This thread still exists! And it's at the top of the forum!
I created this thread like, four years ago as a differant user. It's pretty funny that's still being used!
To update. I (Dood) would like to add Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Jak 3, and Final Fantasy XII to my list.

I do that all the time with me three email addresses.
Anyways, If I had to exclude all NISA games I'd have to also say FF XII is my best.
Other than that Mana Khemia is ranked #1 overall.

Re: What’s your Favorite Game EVER?
I don't think I could name a list without NISA games, as most of them have spoiled me for other types of games. For example, it wasn't until I had popped in my old Dragon Quest 8 disc and started playing when I realized how much the Atelier Iris series eliminated a lot of grinding and allowed me to advance through the story without dedicating a weekend to power leveling to take on a boss. Instead, I would spend the weekend advancing through the story.
My favorite game of all time has to be Chrono Trigger. It had a solid story, side quests, and it had a great flow to it. However, the feature that puts it far ahead of all other games I've played is probably that I like how they did the New Game + option. In my opinion, its probably the first AND last game to do it right. You carried over nearly everything (including levels), meaning that all experience you got after the end of the last game was a bonus, and allowed you to tackle the other endings however you wished, including the potential to beat bosses that you were otherwise required to lose to. For that reason, I played that game enough times through to memorize every last pixel of every map, which order everything had to be done in, and when to challenge the last boss and where for which of the many endings. It was probably the only game that I was able to log in over 500 hours in. As a casual player, no other game has done this*, even its sequel, Chrono Cross, which also included a "fast forward" button (frame skip) when playing New Game + to speed up the action. Somehow, Chrono Cross failed to make my list of favorites, even back then.
To contrast, I've since found that Square games are decent, but to me seem more like visually appealing attempts at mediocrity.
Second place goes to Mana Khemia for the same reasons. You still need to grind for rare items for advanced synthesis, but your "levels" are kept otherwise. Its slice of life of an alchemy student plot was very enjoyable as well and I'm looking forward to the second installment. It just slightly beats out Ar Tonelico based on technical merits.
In other areas, story and single run gameflow nets the rest of the list. Every game on this list has good replay value along with decent story, except Phantasy Star IV, which has almost no replay value.
1) SNES - Chrono Trigger
2) PS2 - Mana Khemia - Favorite character? Anna. Gotta like the space cadets! Especially when they're walking tactical nukes.
3) PS2 - Ar Tonelico 2 - Yes, even with its flaws. Here's hoping for AT3!
4) PS2 - Ar Tonelico - I will NEVER be able to get enough of this series. Please MORE. I almost don't care what it is. It could be a poster of the Gettysburg Address in Hymnos and I'd buy it.
5) Arcade - X-Men vs. Street Fighter - After this entry retired, this series became unplayable to me.
6) PS2 - Atelier Iris 2 - I seriously wish they would have made a sequel to this prequel to describe the events that are described in Atelier Iris's history and lead to Lita's birth; Grand Phantasm doesn't seem to connect to Eternal Mana.
7) PS2 - Atelier Iris
8) Genesis - Phantasy Star IV - This game got me into RPGs
9) PC - Starcraft: Broodwar - for some reason, squishing zerg never gets dull; decent campaign, even though the ending of each really irritated me.
10) PS2 - Growlanser Generations - Growlanser 2's combat system was cool. Growlanser 5 just didn't feel the same.
* Note: World of Warcraft doesn't count, as its not a game, its a job.
