I remember getting some hiccups here and there (usually involving Klein and some alchemy effect). How bad is the slow down?

i think this "lag" is affected by how "fast" your PS2 lens is...

Yeah, I think I heard that too somewhere.
I have a brand new slim Ps2, only 2 months old;
and sometimes even I experience some slow-downs as well.
It just sometimes happens that at the beginning of a battle or at the end that there is a sort of a 1-2 second Pause, nothing really bothersome though.

Re: Bug Report
I also have the newslim line ps2 got it when atelier iris came out. But it's a little odd that the new slimline would do that since it has all the updated drivers and lenses. thanks for your feedback on this.

Re: Bug Report
it's not because it's new that it's good, lol!
US PS2s have lame-quality components compared to the Japanese models! our lens must be made in China/Taiwan or something, and i heard the lens are badly-calibrated too! must be because of this problem that the game "lags" sometimes.
i heard you can calibrate your lens, but i dunno how though. i gotta ask someone who know how to do this, and if he could do it for me.

Re: Bug Report
That sucks that we get the lame crape but also makes since. So you think it is more of a system issue not a game issue. Sorry for all the question's about this but I just like to know how things work.

Re: Bug Report
both
the game contains bugs (bugs that Gust didn't fixed i guess), and the system have issues...
remember almost all the game loads all the stuff before you see the content, or it loads the stuff "on-the-fly" but even before you have the time to see that object, so you don't have the impression it "lags" when it loads because your "viewfield" is already loaded in the memory.
ever had a problem with a too-damaged Tokyo Extreme Racer (DC) disc? because this game "loads" bits of tracks, so if it's unable to load that "bit" of track, you'll see nothing having the impression your car "floats", lol!
i had the very same problem with Kaido Battle 2 (still made by Genki) because it loads "bits" of tracks, and well...maybe because it was a DVD-R (shame on me, i know...can't afford the game ) but the lens was trying to load a bit of the track and i could see it wasn't loaded yet when i reached that point...it loaded in memory and appeared after i reached the end of that "track bit".
so maybe the issue of the game is it doesn't load everything in memory when you change room/viewfield, so that's why it "lags" when you use the cane on objects, because it loads that special effect in memory...

Re: Bug Report
The problem with this game is that we play it so completely that any bugs are really noticed. I mean I play a RPG like I am beta testing it, because you never know what hidden stuff might be there, so naturally bugs are going to come out, but that doesn't mean the game isn't as addictive as hell and one of the best RPGs put out stateside in a while.
As for US voice work, sorry but it just doesn't have the expressiveness of the Japanese voice actors, I mean listen to Popos tutorials, they sound so much cooler in Japanese, the US voices just aren't expressive enough.
Although, the little perverted wood fairies are funny in English lol, cause their voice do not match their body size.
I still say that Disgaea has one of the best US voice tracks, captured the craziness and over-the-top expressiveness of the Japanese track.
Seriously, if you do not buy this game for those few glitches, then you are missing out on an amazing and unique game, we are not likely to get more games like this in the US.

Re: Bug Report
I agree the game is awesome, the bug's don't bother me that much. I just asked these questions to make sure that it was not just my game disk. But I do love this game I can't stop playing it hope that they bring out atelier iris 2. Again thanks for all your feedback guys.
