oh it works, they don't have good move or sp, so you also want to become a theif to compensate, since the base attack of a syringe can't damage an enemy, so they need the SP, & a +20 to move frees up the one available equip slot they have to freely use.
The other upside is that their def & res growth rate is 27, the highest growth rate of any stat of any creatable character. the next best is any other class specializing in a stat getting a growth rate of 21, they're actually better with a syringe than salome who has 25.
Downside I should mention of course is that a syringe will not damage a vehicle or facility, as theif HP is...different or whatever.
