Oh well, there will always be people who dislike something, no matter how great it is...
The only problem i have with the game is slight glitching when moving characters (not quite making it up a ledge and using up all movement points trying over and over again anyway) and the fact there are no disgaea-style succubi in the game, apart from that, "Makai Kingdom" is excellent!

That is true. However, there are many reasons one may dislike something. Some are acceptable, and some are not.
For instance, theres a tiny chance the guy has a mild case of Centophobia.
He may have just been in a bad mood.
I believe he simply set his expectations too high.
Always take into mind the variables.

Wow thats a thought, it calls itself Makai kingdom so it cant be DISGAEA! I absolutly love Makai Kingdom. I love Disgaea Too. I like Phantom Brave as well. In fact so far anything that Nippon Ichi has made Ive enjoyed thoroughly. But to compare each game to eacvh toher is almost like apples and oranges because of how different they ARE!
Some people just need to enjoy gaming and have fun, Not enjoy gaming so they can Crush Developers hopes....

Well, some of Nippon Ichi's voice acting is really bad, english that is. I couldn't stand Flonne's voice in Disgaea or Makai... And I didn't listen to the English version of Makai, because well... I get tired of dealing with the voice acting, lol, thats why there's the japanese version.
But Phantom Brave and La Pucelle are two of the best acted games I've played on the PS2. (I think Tales of Symphonia had some awesome voice acting except for Collette... And its no where near as abyssmal as Xenogears... Ugh... )
So I agree. NIS has some amazing voice actors, but thats because they use all the same voice actors as the best RPG's do. There are basically like 10 voice actors who do all the voices in english. Jennifer Hale (Prier) is one of them and I am her man whore, I would be her monkeyboy any day.

That guy should be happy that they give you a choice. Most games don't bother, they make you listen to the English version or cut the voices altogether.

That is pretty funny, especially when he makes a reference to Disgaea's story and how Makai Kingdom was too simple. This is funny because Disgaea's story was basically "There's a Demon Prince. An Angel teaches him the meaning of love. The End."

There ARE points which I would agree to, such as slight difficulty in targeting enemies, but it can be easily countered with Patience.
Also, he mentioned the menus are too messy. I remembered Disgaea had something similar too.
He also mentioned he would deny the advantage the free roaming system has for throws. It was not done.
He believed that NIS is responsible for horrid English Voice acting. I believe NIS is actually doing an OK job. English Voice Acting can be incredibly good. Look at Digital Devil Saga for example. I cannot imagine *that* game in Japanese. I also prefered Kingdom hearts in English.
The music fits the mood well. Disgaea had something similar, so what was he expecting? Jazz?
Some reviews have to be taken seriously. Others we'll have to take it with a pinch of salt. To give bad reviews to a great game is pretty hard to do, unless you have sme really good points backing.

I don't mean to make a big deal about voice acting, but I really can't stand the talking. I've heard all of the "get ready" and "take this" in combat from the characters, and I don't like it. I put it in Japanese and the voices stay the same in combat.
On to cut-scene voices. It's not the voice itself, it's the way they say their lines that get my ears (in exception of "I'm a freakin' overlord!", this was pretty funny). The lines are very corny...
