Ar Tonelico 2

I'm surprised there's not a thread in this particular section, but I'd like to bring it to NIS' attention again. News travels fast, and now that we know a second game is in the works, the lot of us who enjoyed the first would like to request the second game be brought over. Being that there is no specific date for the japanese release, we do not know any possible timelines for releasing it here, but we are keeping our eyes open.

However, we would like to emphasize this one point about releasing it: Please keep it on a console, and do not release on PSP. It would be a nice fit on PSP admittedly, but I'm sure a grand majority would prefer to play it on the big screen.

I'm unsure whether or not someone in the know can provide this or not, but some of us are also curious about the sales numbers for the first game. Based on print run and sales, has the game sold well or not for a NIS title? I understand that it can have a bearing on the selection process.

In the meantime I will continue making my mark on the japanese site by posting some thoughts from an English fan, while encouraging other Tonelifans to post here and elsewhere to spread the world.

VIRAL MARKETING for the win.

Re: Ar Tonelico 2

I too was excited to hear that this game was in production. I really enjoyed Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia. The game gave me a feeling that I hadn't felt since my SNES days back many many years ago. I also realize that this series isn't Grand Theft Auto, and more than likely doesn't generate incredibly impressive sales. With that said, I really do appreciate NIS America, as a game company for releasing these kinds of games for us here in North America. NIS America is currently my favourite video game company for its dedication to its customers.

I (among others), would love to see Ar tonelico 2 localized by the talented people at NIS America as well, and hope they will pursue such a project if at all possible. I also hope that if they do decide to bring it to North American shores, they keep it on the Sony Playstation 2, and resist the temptation to port it to the Sony Playstation Portable. It's not a popular platform in comparison to the PS2, and a lot of us who enjoyed Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia wouldn't be able to buy the sequel if that was the case.

Whatever happens, I'm sure NIS America is paying attention, and will hopefully hear our pleas. emoticon

Ar Tonelico was a great game, and my favourite NISA release so far by far. My only gripes with the game were that it was too easy, and that the whole Cosmosphere system could have been much more dynamic.

So yeah, I want Ar Tonelico II here. One of my most wanted now.

NISA only localizes games, they don't port them. Whatever console GUST and Banpresto are releasing Ar Tonelico II for, is the console we'll get it on if and when it comes to the US. So don't worry.

That's funny that you mention a possibility of Ar tonelico 2 on PSP -- even though I think that would be really sweet, I'd also rather have the game for PS2. I'm still playing the PS2 much more than either the Xbox360 or Wii (thanks to Ar tonelico!) and there's so much more that I'm looking forward to playing, including many upcoming releases from NISA.

Even with the many excellent upcoming releases for Xbox360, I'm looking forward to Ar tonelico 2 even more! And this is without an offical NA announcement, or even the release in Japan.

Of course, ports of the games for PSP later on would be must-haves!

I think a portable Gust game would be awesome, and they definitely should try doing that in the future. If not for Ar Tonelico 1/2, then a Gust game down the line. Im not saying a game for just the Playstation portable, but for both the PS2 and the PSP.

Definitely want to see Ar-Tonelico 2 released in the U.S.

More on that note later.

A separate forum might as well be made for this game, as well as for the rest of NISA's upcoming releases.

Just as a heads-up, we are definitely aware of the game, but it's way too early to say anything one way or another about it.

Except that Sanctine's right, and whatever system Gust decides to put it on is what system it'll stay on.
