Re: vBulletin

I'm pretty sure I got 2 negative feedbacks for my post about Cross Edge. And I simply explained why I liked the game.

The karma system isn't actually a bad thing, but it would need some sort of control by a moderator or something... because people can smite others for totally personal reasons with no logic basis. I mean, I could smite every single message in this topic for no reason at all, giving you all 1 negative feedback. And this makes no sense.

That said, I don't really care about it, but still...

Re: vBulletin

NISA didn't used to have a policy, because all of their games were released with both languages (with as much English as they could afford to put in there, anyway) until the PS2 games started filling the discs with one language and they started releasing handheld games. They released a couple of games that made one choice, and a game or two that tried to hack it together, and the whole forum turned into people (myself included) arguing about their preferences.

NISA doesn't even seem to post here officially any more, and you're more likely to get information about their games from other sites than from either this board or the NISA site.

Sony has released games that don't have an English dub themselves, but people like to attribute all kinds of things to them.

Disable Karma

It can be disabled.
http://www.runboard.com/bakheva.f4.t1702

I cast my vote for disabling, due to the tension it creates.

Doing away with the karma system would make the environment more friendly, which would probably result in an increased number of active users, thereby making the board more active and more worthwhile visiting.

You really have an interesting number of post and karma. But why would ppl put negative karma on you? I don't see you to be offensive and rude.

Yeah really, you've been nothing but helpful to me lol

First post I made, Dave replied and the first thing he said was "gtfo." Thanks, Dave. I feel the love.

I don't think people choose not to post here because of the karma system. I think they choose not to do so because there's rarely anything productive under discussion here, and NISA doesn't even post basic press releases and announcements here any more.

I'm sure I can get a couple more negative karma points along the way, but some people have negative karma for a reason.

I tend to only post when I want to argue with someone, so I generally don't pay attention to karma. Really, I think every time I post I'm going to end up with more negative karma, but its more balanced than I imagined in my case.

That's a valid reason...

But I'm going to keep boosting low karma because I still think that's a part of it. I'm aiming for a positive ten, at least.

agreed. It's not a bad thing just so long as it's properly controlled. Personally, I'm entirely in favor of message boards having a caste system. Tends to point out your veterans and just people who could be respected in general, plus I kinda like it when I get to have a higher title myself. ^^ But I guess when you spend enough time on a board, you tend to distinguish such people anyway. Besides which, this forum is so horribly inactive and the reading so light that I don't really need to skim over a thread just to save time.
