Re: This game broke my heart
If I said Atelier Iris 2 was a completely bad game, I would be lying. That game had features I wish was on other RPG's. Plus no matter how annoyed I got I never had the urge to quit. If a game can you get you to the end there's something good about it.
I await to heat what you have to say about Atelier Iris 3. You seem to be the reliable person here.

Re: This game broke my heart
Well, I've already imported the soundtrack for Atelier Iris ~ Grand Fantasm (along with the soundtracks from the previous two games).
And let me say, there are a few songs which get stuck in my mind...in a good way!
Case in point: "Town of Water."
The style hasn't changed much from previous installments, so you might get a little confused between which songs are from which soundtrack if you listen to them really often, but other than that, I dig it all!
After all, like I've said, the series's music keeps getting better!
If the soundtrack's good, I'm usually pretty optimistic about the game, as I often get the soundtrack prior to the game, as a preview of sorts.

Re: This game broke my heart
I definitely have to agree with everyone who mentioned how the battle system was too easy. I did play the game all the way through, beat all the optional stuff... but I didn't feel like I had accomplished something when I won the fights.
In AI1, I actually lost to the 3 Golden Pigs a couple times; those little guys were mean. But the equivalent in AI2, the 3 Instant Brownies, I beat just using regular attacks and revive items. The fact that someone hops in whenever another person dies, combined with the ability to carry 198 revive items (99 of each of the 2 types), makes the fight trivial. Why bother trying to keep people alive and buffed when you can just resurrect them as much as you need to?
Still, I had fun with the game, and I'm looking forward to AI3 (and Ar Tonelico, as I haven't bought that yet).

Re: This game broke my heart
I'm finally getting around to playing AI2. And I agree. It is relatively easy. And I think it's a bit too easy. >_>;; Ar Toneliko easy, I mean. XD
AIGF (I refuse to call it AI3, but I don't want to make a scene out of it) was looking very interesting. So I'm even more intrigued about it as I never imported it.
here's to awaiting AIGF!!

Re: This game broke my heart
I think that Tolena (an Imperial Champion) should have been given more credit than just being an airbag. She was cute and her little Puni guards didnt make any nsense, but Even if she was an Imperial guard, to us, she olny held the title- We were never shown any of her power as a champion and all she did was say a quick "hi" and "bye". I also wonder if an Imperial Champion really Needs Puni's a guards anyways.

Because Tolena thinks Punis are cute, and the Punis like Tolena and want to protect her.
Tolena for the most part leads us on that she's just a ditz, but she does demonstrate some intelligence when she sort of reveals an attraction for Chaos when you slip her Chaos's dairy (after making the Verdure Doublet).
She should've been better developed. At least, the Chaos-Tolena relationship had more potential. Other than that, I think the writers wanted her to appear as someone who'd been secretly observing things from the start, under the disguise of being a ditz. NO ONE SUSPECTS TOLENA!
There's that one scene in the palace in which Galahad and Chaos have a brief exchange of words, and further down the hall is Tolena listening intently, her hands folded, with an inquisitive, interested expression on her face.
The Imperial Champions are by far some of the most interesting characters in the game. Chaos is only using the Empire's resources to his own ends, Galahad is paying reluctant servitude to the Empire, and as far as we know, Tolena's only an Imperial Champion because of her father, Theodore. In other words, the highest-ranking officers of the Empire aren't very loyal to its cause.
...
P.S. Finished the game this past weekend. Good times.
Alhough, I will admit I got through the game mostly skipping battles entirely using the Fear Bottle, and only using the Dragon's Nest/Den battle arena to level up.
It was just fun for me to witness the events, plots, characters, settings, and dialogue they set before us.

Re: This game broke my heart
I guess that makes me a small minority in that I like this one better than both 1 & 3...though all are great games.

Re: This game broke my heart
AI2....Ah, good times with it. My Gray reached lv. 58 and my Audrey (Fee) reached lv. 65. But, I do not agree with the title. This game broke my heart... It's a big no-no! I'm sorry, because I post this reply at January 1st, 2009, but AI2 battle system....It's really good. You can sythesis Elixir at battle. You know, Elixir is the ultimate remedy. One Felt's best line... "Viese, I'm promise to go back from Belkhyde" One Viese's best line....When Felt being cursed and Viese used Destone Orb to cure him. It's quite a romatic RPG game.

How'd you get over level 50 in AI2? The levels max at 50.
