Thanks for an almost unplayable game...

I had heard bad things about the loading. And complained about them. But I thought, surely they couldn't be that bad. Afterall, Generation of Chaos had terrible loading, but it was still playable

But yikes, I was wrong. This is the single worst game in the history of gaming. There were tape drive games in the TRS-80 days which had less painful loading.

How could NISA possibly think this was acceptable? (I also have to wonder how SCEA can approve this stuff, but keep out a number of playable RPGs due to lack of new content).

Pretty much everyone who bought this game will not be happy with NISA and probably not buy future products. And a lot of people will probably try to downgrade their PSPs to see if they can this from a memory stick, and probably end up bricking them. But that's the only way to play this game without going crazy.

I just bought this game. Although I have not opened it at all. It is still in the shrink wrap. Can it really be that bad? I have never played Generation of Chaos yet. Both games looked good to me.

Not buying future NISA localised games is ridiculous... Not buying future idea factory games I can understand though... But a game like this (or GoC as I'm still waiting for a chance to play SS before, perhaps, buying it) shouldn't keep you from getting future N1 goodness!

I imported the Japanese one and quickly realized that the loading times do indeed kill it. It's a shame because the game seems very awesome otherwise. I like the characters, and the different sides to choose from seems very cool as well. I really want Spectral Souls 3 for the Xbox 360, as I'm sure the 360 version wont have such pathetic load times.

Who the hell thought it was a good idea to port a PS2 game for the PSP? Watch, the same fate might happen to Disgaea for the PSP....

Coding the game a little differently might have helped with load times, i.e. watching the game load the same attack twice in a row is a little silly. However, bringing it up on these boards is moot; NISA doesn't program.
I'm enjoying the game despite the load times and would be interested if other games in the series were localized.

the game runs faster off the memory stick
and is way less harsh on your psp.
spectral souls is a very quality game despite what the critics say.
