Localization has really suffered this time!
I love NIS America for bringing these games to us. After playing this game though, I'm very disappointed with NISA. I feel like they've let me down, betrayed me for being a fan, ect.
After reading the RPGFan review and editorial about Ar Tonelico 2, I felt like posting something here to see if anyone else feels the same way. (BTW- RPGfan was going to give the game an Editor's Choice award, but the translation and bugs kept them from doing so!)
The QA and localization effort for this game are just plain awful. The translation leaves a lot to be desired. I can't help but feel like it was neutered for the English crowd. The lame sexual jokes get old after awhile as well. I like humor, but when it's thrown at you ALL THE TIME, and it's almost painfully immature...it's just too much. The Japanese version is much more subtle with the innuendo. Who is making these decisions, and how old are they?
Anyway, I'll cut it short there. I'm just bummed about this one. I fear NIS America is loosing out on excellent reviews and fans by doing such lousy work on the transition of the game from Japanese to English. I sincerely hope that the quality of future titles improves.

Re: Localization has really suffered this time!
There are several topics around the board about AT2's quality. It's pretty much been discussed to death and most people got bored with the arguments.

Re: Localization has really suffered this time!
AT2 made me sigh a bit. I really wanted to love it to death, and I do love the music and the cute anime. But as many have contributed, the localization suffered. Mayhap the company was stressed for time, between projects, who knows. I sincerely hope they don't butcher Cross Edge, although I'm grateful for any translations they can bring us...

Since Cross Edge is a PS3 game and not a PS2 game NISA could probably just fix it with a bug fix patch or translation in text patch to fix it up. Since Ar tonelico 2 is a PS2 game and can't get a patch for anything the only things we can hope for is either a re-release or a PS3 full 100% voice acting edition with no bugs and no translation errors.
