Re: Idea Factory

Correction, Apocalypse: Desire Next is an enhanced Xbox 360 port of GoC Desire along with GoC III available for download via the Xbox Live Marketplace. I've made a discussion topic for the title(s) so that it gets more focus.

Also, I'll just add in another plea for Spectral vs. Generation; it would be great to see NIS America bring over a fighting game.

Re: Idea Factory

Any games similar to Brigandine...(Mist of Chaos???),definitely Agarest Senki not for the graphics but for the sake of a good 5 generation worth of story and the fact it has a dating sim element and we need more rpgs!,some other rpg game for the ps3... the ps3 is dying for the love of GOD!!! It needs some JRPGs! STAT!!!

Might as well say it... any chance for Two Thousand Arms? emoticon

What is that? A sequel to Thousand Arms? Sounds like a waste of time to me... I'm kind of worried that NIS will stop putting out IF games altogether because of the mixed reviews from gamers and pros alike on the PSP games. I'm worried because I like the IF style of story and their games very much. I want to see Agarest Senki because it draws in elements from several of my favorite games. I want to see any GOC game in any variation because I like the the combat system. I want to see more Spectral Souls games (not on the PSP, though). Quite simply, IF has made me a fan, though not as fanatic as I am for NIS's own games. I do wish they'd do something about the load times in their games, though.

Re: Idea Factory

Apparently there is an interview out somewhere where NIS America pretty much bashes Idea Factory about quality of their games.

But really when a company brings over three ports that were plagued with bad load times and released on a system that was still starting somewhat and expecting great sales and then not even trying a console game and see how that goes, how else should a company feel?

I don't know... maybe that they didn't exactly start off on the right foot? In all honesty I like Idea Factory and their crossover SRPG Chaos Wars is an excellent game for the PS2, a console/non-handheld system. Looks like O~3 chose the right title to start with in comparison to how NISA started.

I mean I'll still get Aedis Eclipse and Spectral Souls when I get a new PSP, but when NISA first announced they would bring over IF games EVERY request we gave was for consoles and yet NISA gives us PSP games only... And then they complain?

Re: Idea Factory

OK, I found it; it's from Siliconera's interview with NIS America president Haru Akenaga by Spencer:

"Spencer: Speaking of Idea Factory, I haven’t seen you localize any Idea Factory games for awhile. What’s going on with Idea Factory?

Haru Akenaga: We have a relationship with them, but unfortunately our mission is to release quality titles. Their titles are good, but not good as we expected. That’s our reason. They always ask us to localize their titles, but at this moment we answer with “we’re sorry”.

Spencer: I guess that means you won’t be doing Agarest Senki or Spectral Genesis?

Haru Akenaga: No, but maybe you will be surprised in the future."

I still think that in the end maybe NIS America was expecting too much from Idea Factory, especially when it cmae to PSP games.

Re: Idea Factory

I enjoyed all the IF games released in North America. The gameplay was great, it was the load times that hurt Generation of Chaos and killed Spectral Souls.
I'm not sure about picking up their games on the PSP, but I'm all for DS and PS2/PS3 titles.

Re: Idea Factory

Idea Factory has a lot of heart, but I think their skills don't quite match that heart just yet. For the hardcore RPG/SRPG crowd, there's the upper tier companies, like Atlus, N1, and Gust, and then somewhere further down the list is Idea Factory. They're trying to do something different, and they have plenty of good ideas, but the execution of those ideas is a bit lacking. I've tried to play Generation of Chaos more times than I can count and get frustrated with it each time.

I'm glad NISA is deciding to slow down on the Idea Factory games. I think Idea Factory could be a potentially great company, but at the present moment it doesn't feel like bringing over an Idea Factory game is more worthwhile than the other gems that we miss out on in America.

Record of Agarest War would be great to see over here and from what I've understood it did OK in Japan unlike Mist of Chaos.

Though Sony America might throw in some disapproving looks while holding the bible on their other hand, no offense to religious types.

If Idea Factory was the big bad wolf people make it out to be, they would have run out of business long time ago.

If I remember correctly, that's just a port of Rebirth Moon, which was originally on the PS2. I like it and IF's plots and battle systems are always interesting, but there's just so many shortcomings in that game that it's not really worth the purchase; it's easy to get frustrated with it.

Unless they fixed them all in Diario, but who knows. :v
