The special ending items in Chapters 4 and 8 (I believe those are the right chapters).

Also, the hidden cub character: you need the Bad Ending in Chapter 3 and to return to where you fought the boss before Chapter 6 ends. Then, if you go back there once he reaches 20, he leaves and Prier gets a new skill.

Oh, right. I didn't think of that because it wasn't an item. Thanks.
I think that if you want the ability for Prier, you need to take the level 20 cub back to that spot before you leave the first continent.

As far as I remember, chapter endings don't do anything to the overall story ending.
