Disgaea (Anime) ~ Hour(s) of Disappointment
You see, I saw the trailer that was included on Disgaea 2's main title screen menu. I see Etna hammering away at Laharl, just like she did in the game, then I see Laharl jumping down from his castle to smite a horde of rebelling demons, smiting both his own castle, along with the horde, and tells Etna to fix it (his castle, which fall down into the lava below). And we get to see other cool fight scenes and computer-generated graphics, among which Laharl has a clashing sword fight with Mid-Boss, and in another destroys a towering golem.
So, I do some more research, and I actually manage to find full episodes on the internet. And I watch all of them. The problem is, these episodes did not show a single scene that I saw in the aforementioned trailer.
In the version I saw, FLONNE is the one who wakes up Laharl, and in a garbage dump, not the castle. A number of other things occur differently than they do in the game, and in a way that doesn't make sense to me. Other events were simply remixes or cheap knock-offs of how they occurred in the game, and further still, are entirely new episodes that have nothing to do with the original game (BTW, those were the best: episodes 3 & 7; Etna and Flonne swap personalities, and Laharl discovers he has an alleged younger sister).
If this's really the Disgaea anime, I'm disappointed. It didn't inspire a single laugh out of me. The quirky humor was gone, and the spectacular pyrotechniques that made up battle scenes were nowhere to be found.
So, what's the deal? Is the trailer for the Disgaea anime that I saw from Disgaea 2 false advertising, a trailer for an unfinished project, or a trailer for a cancelled project?
How many Disgaea animes are there?! Was the version I saw a fan produced project?
Just what is going on?!

It was a sequence specifically made for people who bought Disgaea 2. I thought the deranged humor was still there, I laughed, if you didn't tough luck.

That's just devilishily misleading...they show us those awexome clips, and tell us they're from the anime, or at least use them to advertise the anime...but they're not in a bit least part of the anime.

No kidding. I only cared for episodes 3 & 7. Seeing Flonne acting all unrestrained like Etna, and the whole situation with Laharl's alleged younger sister were hilarious, but the rest was such hackneyed remixing or retelling of the original plot...
And the battle scenes were so lacking! Especially for something based on a game about fighting!
Gah, those DVDs were not cheap...!
The manga looks good, though. I'll probably go with that. Manga > anime, always.

Actually, I always kind of thought Mid-Boss/Vyers was actually Krichevskoy in disguise. And that's probably the truth.

Re: Disgaea (Anime) ~ Hour(s) of Disappointment
Yeah man get you some Disgaea manga. It is funny considering it didn't have anything to with the game. It's only 10 dollars for the whole thing so it's worth it.
That was an underhanded tactic pulled NISA. In fact they seem to be doing all kinds of underhanded tactics.

Please explain why you think the way you do.
The characters aren't very well introduced in the anime; NIS assumes too much that you played the game before watching the anime. They rely too much on previous knowledge from the game for you to enjoy the anime.
The fighting scenes were nil. Laharl might swing his sword a few times, but most of the time, a wave of his hands (or cape) and the enemy's just blown away, just when you think there was actually going to be a fight scene.
I mean, really, go back to my first post, and read more than just the first sentence.
The only way the anime's funny, is that it's a joke to the entire field of anime: that's to say that it's garbage.
I tried selling this back on a marketplace messageboard dealing in secondhand items, namely those related to video games, but alas, half-a-year later and no buyers means Bernhardt snaps the discs into pieces and throws them in the trash. Because they are trash. Because nobody wanted to buy them. Even for a discounted, low, low price. Okay, so I didn't just throw them in the trash. I RAN THEM THROUGH MY PAPER SHREDDER!!! XD Rest assured, the snapping sounds were very gratifying.
I'm asking YOU: Just how can you think this anime is any damn good?!
