Transmigration?

I've been playing Disgaea for a bit now, and I'm trying to get high level characters. I've heard people say that Transmigration makes leveling up seem faster... but does it? By how much, if at all?

Re: Transmigration?

Well in a sense it makes leveling faster. When you transmigrate, you of course go back to level 1. However, depending on how many stored levels the character has, they can augment their default stats by a certain amount. As far as I remember, whatever numbers you have are how much you gain each level. So if you transmigrate and start Laharl with 33 attack, he'll earn 33 extra attack every level. Something like that anyway. So while it sets you back to level 1, you will be significantly stronger and kills will come in quicker, thus gaining more exp faster =P

Actually with each level up you earn a fraction of your level one stats. You'll still have higher stats when you reach your original level though.

Thing is, the character rank that you make them with in the beginning (i.e. "good-for-nothing," "incompotent," "average," "genius," etc., will determine how many of their original powers they keep.

To create knights with magic, or other character class combinations, you must transmigrate them. E.g., transmigrate a knight into a wizard, or vice versa, as per an example.

...and for that matter, you must reach a certain rank with the Dark Assembly by taking exams (e.g. test fights) to raise your rank with the Dark Assembly. In other words, you need to level a character up considerably before you can transmigrate them.

Re: Transmigration?

I would not consider transmigration before Lvl 1000. At the start of my 4th Cycle I transmigrated Laharl (from about Lvl 1000 for the first time), My Mage (from Lvl 5800 or so) and Etna (from Lvl 7000). After a number of item world trips (levelled a Yosh-itsuna among others with strongest enemies) and a few chapters the Mage is back up to Lvl 2000, Etna around Lvl 1600 and Laharl to around Lvl 500.

That's weird, I've transmigrated almost all of my guys two or three times... and I'm at level 20. I dreaded it at first, but it is pretty easy to get back up to level and you improve your base stats a lot.

Re: Transmigration?

I Transmigrated early to get a few extra stats during the regular game. Now, with Cave of Ordeals 3 open and leveling up easier, I only Transmigrate at high levels; the level depends on the character and how easy CoO3 and other high leveling areas are for them.
