Baal

Zomg, Baal totally owned my lvl 6000 surts. I robbed him, equiped his swag and did about 3 mil of his life in when he swatted me like a fly on the wall in two hits.

Any advice on how to deal with him WITHOUT lvling Laharl or a Majin or Samurai to lvl 9999?

Also, is there any easy way to capture monsters? I got a lvl 6k surt by accident(almost given up in a battle what the heck throw it in the base panel) and a few lvl 4k ones.

Re: Baal

Baal doesn't require anything near level 9999. Just get a good weapon on a humanoind first. I'd say go for a Yo****suna if you can get one, but if not, any high-end Legendary weapon at level 100 (Amano-Hahakiri or Cosmic Blade) works pretty well. You can keep reloading "Beauty of Evil" (the map where you fought Marjoly) until the sword Majin there has a Legendary Amano-Hahakiri and then steal it. Also, you can get a Cosmic Blade from the bottom of a Legendary AH, and a Yoshi from the bottom of a Legendary CB. Also, try to max the weapon mastery of whatever weapon type you choose so that you'll get the maximum bonuses from equipping it. Try to set up some huge combos (with your strongest units at the end) or try using 5x Braveheart on your strongest character and having the Bravehearters act as decoys so that you can get in more than one round of attacks. You don't really NEED a humanoid, but they're generally much better than monsters because they can have better weapons. I myself beat Baal with 5 mages for Braveheart, Laharl as my primary attacker, Marjoly and Priere as secondary attackers (and people who built up the combo), and an EDF soldier and Gordon as long-range decoys/combo builders.

As for capturing monsters, try to drain as much of their SP as you can before hand to lessen the initial damage that they do as soon as they enter your base. Reducing their HP helps as well, since it will make them easier to subdue.

Oh, and if you get a Yoshi before taking on Baal, try to steal an SRS of the same rarity. It will give higher bonuses when equipping both and it will save you a trip through the SRS to find one that's the same rarity (though you should get 2 more anyway). Having the person with the Yoshi equip it would help immensely with damage (easily adding a few hundred thousand extra attack).

Right I did do that, the steal rate is really really high with a monster 2k lvls above baal, I took ALL his gear and held him up with a mage every turn while I unloaded on him with 3 or 5 other people, hell I even omega healed with some of them.

As for the yosh, I dont know what weapon or item is the best for gogin to lvl 100 in, but I have 4 lvl 100 arcadias.. and they didnt help as much as I had hoped.

Btw have you beaten the uber prinny?

Yep. Actually, once you can beat regular Baal, Uber Prinny Baal is barely any harder. I just did the exact same thing with the decoys and Bravehearters, stole his gear (which is a good thing to do, since UPB's gear is level 100), and comboed.

Blarg, maybe I should try again. I haven't fought him since he totally owned me (got scared T_T).

And is an uber prinny avaible for making after you kill it? I see theres one more slot for making a character there where all other monsters are one class over.

Kudos to you btw I haven't talked to many people that have actually managed to kill baal without capturing monsters.

One other idea that might help when you are fighting Baal. Before you end your turn have someone pick up Baal and hold him, that person dies once Baal gets his turn but he can't do anything while you are holding him, this gives Laharl and co. a lot more time to beat up on him without Baal getting the chance to fight back.

Nope. You can only create UPB (as well as regular Baal and a bunch of other bosses) through the use of a cheat device. It would be nice though. His base stats are ungodly.

Re: Baal

It is ages since I had to deal with Baal...

I had a problem with Prinny Baal the other week. I was left with Etna only (around Lvl 6000) and managed to get far enough for him not to damage me and spent 51 turns killing him (with magic) walking back and forth across the back edge of the map with Prinny Baal walking back and forth about 6 squares in from the back (you call that AI!!!!). He never bothered to try to get closer.

At least with my Mage (almost Lvl 6000) alive dishing out 3000K hits it is a little easier. I make sure I take all his items with my Lvl 5700 thief class (995 chance) and throw him down the base panel to try to reduce his stats a bit.

Probably the easiest way to deal with UPB is to get a Divine Majin to level 4000+, and equip him with level 98-100 Yo****suna, Super Robo Suit, and a couple Champion Belts (or more Robo Suits if you have them). Then Braveheart/decoy/combo build each turn, using Nightsever with the Majin. I beat him that way a couple times, always had a few characters left at the end.

using Nightsever

That reminds me of something I left out: Weapon and skill choice. If you have a Yoshi, then by all means use it. It's by far the best weapon in the game. Like Arashiken said, use Nightsever, since it does 300% damage. If you don't have a Yoshi, then Axe is a good weapon type to use. Calamity Drive does 325% damage, making it the strongest weapon skill in the game in terms pure damage. However, the strongest axe at level 1 has 1500 less attack power than the Yoshi at level 1, and it only stands to fall behind even more as they level. That's why the Yoshi is better.

And alway, always attack from behind if at all possible.
