Re: PPCs They certainly are! Lord of the Rings is the fandom that I like to focus on, but I don't want to restrict the board.
You can PPC anything you like provided:
it's not written by a fellow board member (that would just cause too much strife) and you have Jay and Acacia's permission (obviously).
PPC away mon ami, I'm looking forward to hearing it.
I recommend starting a new thread for any completed works. Happy Sue slaughtering!

Re: PPCs Y-you've never heard of the PPC? That's terrible! Okay, for full details visit www.misssandman.com, especially www.misssandman.com/PPC/story.html and related stories.
In short, the PPC (that's "Protectors of the Plot Continuum") are a group of writers who police the realms of fanfiction. The most famous of these are the great Agents Jay and Acacia, now retired, who originated the idea in the Lord of the Rings continuum. Now there are more than a score of Agents in various continuums taking out everything from bad slash to Mary-Sues to overly-redundant stories.
I myself am a Mary-Sue assassin. I've currently got one agent in Pirates of the Caribbean and another just starting work in LotR-verse.
Nurvingiel, I sincerely pray that none of my targets so far are board members. I promise not to link the board to any PPCs of members should it occur. And I have dutifully requested and received permission to be a PPCer.
Right. Off to post a new topic.

Re: PPCs You know what, it's not that big of a deal. We only have seven members at the moment and none of them write badfic. (badfic= bad fan fiction)
If a dispute ever arises, I'll try to moderate it. The chance of this is small though.
My goal with that rule is I don't want one member MSTing or PPCing another member just to tick them off. I know you did not do that, so no worries.
Re: PPCs I originally thougth Miss Sandman invented PPCing, which is incorrect, but I think since a lot of information on it is hosted at her site, that's where I got the wrong impression.
Tian's hilarious PotC PPC makes me want to PPC something. Does a certain PPC expert want to talk about PPC basics? It seems similar to MSTing in a way, but it seems more like writing another story parallel to the badfic, in which the badfic is severely mocked and/or destroyed. MSTing, on the other hand, inserts humorous/sarcasting/random comments into the story, but the entire thing is still there. That nice thing about that is you can skip boring exposition or character descriptions.
