Re: Movies you recently seen...
Why, because he jumped the couch? That man's as nutty as a bowl of nuts, I tell you.
I saw Mission Impossible III, and it was highly entertaining. The only flaw was they continued to over-use the hackneyed mask thing from MI2.
Also, there were fake mathematical forumlas, and the abuse of the word "fulcrum".
However, it actually had a rad plot with good continuity (z0mg), and I had a great time.
I also saw "A History of Violence" with my boyfriend. It had the potential to be a brilliant movie, but it was demoted to a bare pass because of two awful flaws.
1. Really bad sex scenes.
2. This just in: Howard Shore's music actually sucks.
Until this movie, I have never watched a sex scene in a movie and felt awkward. Or an urge to stab out my eyes.
I mean, the Neo-Trinity sex scene in "The Matrix: Reloaded" had more depth than the splooge they tried to hand us in this movie.
The other problem with the sex scenes is they didn't fit at all in this otherwise well-done movie. They were totally random and weird.
His wife says, "We never got to be teenages together" (what the hell?), then dresses up as a cheerleader and they have hot monkey sex. In the other sex scene, I really had to wonder if it was a rape scene or not. In the end, I decided not, but what this hell is going on here anyway?
Also, Howard Shore really is a one-trick pony. He needs to stop writing movie music as of now. I will not be able to watch movies for which he has done the soundtrack in the future - I am sick and tired of the "Lord of the Rings" music, original and repackaged.
Without the above flaws, this movie would have been awesome. It had an interesting, original script, and Viggo Mortensen did a brilliant job. However, Shore's music was so incredibly irritating, and the sex scenes so incredibly bizarre, that in the end I could barely stomach it.
It was worth renting, but damn. Damn and damn.
And that's what I think about that.

*snerk* Spaceballs IS awesome.
'The Force?'
'No, the Schwartz!'
Only problem is, I saw it before the actual Star Wars, and since then, I can't watch Star Wars without snickering, because it's always Spaceballs coming to my mind...
