Hey stargazer,
Without a lot of time and without knowing your circumstance, let me say that relief has come but our flesh... our past... and our habitual need to "pay for our own sins" by being depressed or feeling guilty gets in the way.
Hebrews says that your conscience has been cleansed by the blood... unbelief is our primary problem... not God. He has forgiven and He does not hold a grudge like our flesh does... especially against ourselves.
