The return Home to Polegate

It is the desire of this club to return to Polegate as soon as possible.
There have been a number issues to date that have prevented this.
I would like to encourage some debate on this matter and offer any answers I can on this subject.

Re: The return Home to Polegate

To become a reputable club you need to have your home ground. H/P has without doubt the finest changing facilities in the area, but the 'walk' to the pitch and the lack of identity gives it too much of a park football feel. Polegate needs the Rec as much as Polegate needs a football club. You can't buy History, just ask José.

Our only problem is the childish approach assumed by the 'commitee' at Willingdon who for no reason other than jealousy and sour grapes are refusing Polegate of their natural home. In the face of this, we must at all times remain 'adult' about the situation and at no time must we drop to the childish stance that the WAFC 'Old Boys' have taken.

It is clear that there is still a good player relationship between the two clubs with the core of the WAFC players. This is witnessed every Saturday afternoon back at the BQ. They have even sympathised with our dilema of dealing with the 'Old Men' of the club.

That is only my opinion, that of someone who has played many seasons for both Polegate FC and Willingdon AFC. I do not like the way Willingdon has changed since certain people got involved with the club. Player power has always been invaluable, when used in the correct, possitive way. This should run hand in hand with any commitee decisions. Clearly not the case in certain situations.

We at Polegate can all take pride in our efforts so far this season in building a family club with a great win or lose team spirit, although we all know winning 'IS' important. We have built a club not a team and it shows on and off the pitch and we must now use this to our strength.

What do you think?...

Re: The return Home to Polegate

Just a quick up date!!!!
On behalf of PTFC I would like to confirm the current status of our quest to return to the Wannock Road Recreation Ground Polegate, the only pitch in Polegate.
Three seasons ago WAFC approached Polegate Town Council having been advised by OUR President who was at the time their third team joint manager to obtain permission to play at the REC. A gentlemans agreement was entered into by the WAFC committee with our President that should there ever be another PTFC then WAFC would step away and allow them access to the pitch. This agreement was reached as our President was born and bred in Polegate and has had close links to the previous Football team.
On the 30th of June 06 PTFC entered into corrosponence with Polegate Town Council following their formation about a possible return to the Rec. Intially PTFC were advised that the pitch was under contract to WAFC a neighbouring village team who have their 3rd XI play their home games there. This was accepted by PTFC.
PTFC asked to view this contract with a view to offering more favourable conditions to the Council. PTFC were later advised that no formal written contract was in fact in place and that it was an informal agreement that was reviewed yearly and that PTFC should make a foraml application at a council meeting.
On the 1st of november 06 The President submitted a formal written request to the council requesting the chance to address the council. On the 13th of November PTFC receieved written confirmation and an invitation to address the council on the 6th of December.
Unbeknown to PTFC during the council meeting on the 6th of November 06, the council agreed to re lease the rec to WAFC providing they comply with three requests from the council. WAFC offered to continue to mark the pitch and provide new goals. ( PLEASE read the unadopted council notes 06/11/06 7331 )
When The President, Chairman and Vice Chairman subsequently the council meeting on the 6th of December 06 no mention of this previous decision was raised nor were any questions concerning the previous PTFC. At this meeting PTFC offered the council the following:- 1) To purchase a line marker for the REC 2) Mark the pitch 3) Fund the pitch marking 4) Purchase new goals 5) Promote Polegate Town Council 6) Donate money to the Polegate Youth Club based at the REC 7) Encourage Polegate youth to following their local team 8) Forge closer links through sport with Polegates twinned towns 9)Allow a weblink between PTFC and the council site and finally increase the revenue to the council by raising the match fee paid to the council by £7. All of these items were first verbally and then confirmed in writing. The feedback from some council members was promising.
It is the view of this club that Polegate should have its own team playing at its own ground. A town of Polegates Size warrants a team. Players, officals and supporters of other clubs are encouraged to contact PTFC and register their support. We know that WAFC 3rd XI will continue and accept that they may feel hard done by, however when they were formed only 9years ago they spent 7 very successful seasons playing on Eastbourne Corporation pitchs without a hitch.
POLEGATE TOWN FC SHOULD BE PLAYING AT POLEGATE REC. PLEASE GET BEHIND THE CLUB AND MAKE CONTACT
