A good win for the 'Gate' which puts us in the next round of the Sussex Junior Cup, an away tie against Hollington Reserves.

Very much a game of two halves. The first half was a combination of poor passing and possession ("keep the ball"), not enough off the ball movement and a home team who were up for the fight.

Harsh words by Blackie at half time and what a transition in the second half! Polegate stepped up a couple of gears, the passing and movement was good, resulting in a further three goals...and there could easily have been more.

Credit to the defence as well. In the second half I don't recall Magham Down actually having a shot on goal. A few crosses etc, but no more than that.

If only we could sort ourselves out from the start of the game, rather than at half-time. However, another clean sheet and in the next round of the Cup. Good work!

Oh and save a word for that man Mr Connell who threw back the years with a tough tackling display in the heart of the midfield. He was even smiling after the game!

Good result more than a good performance.
Clive was MOM by a mile. A good example of 'when the going get's tough..."
Clarkie would have loved this one.

Great to see the Eddie we all know and love looking sharper, no doubt he'll miss the next game and forget how to score again!!

Teams are trying to stop us playing, so patience is needed at times especially early on. Let them chase us down, let's keep the ball and as with every other game this season we dominate and open the game up in the second half and the goals will then flow.

4-0 was probably a bit flattering after the 1st half, but as you say, patients is the key to all our games. Teams will try to keep it tight at the start, then we can exploit them once opposition players heads drop after a couple of goals. If we keep the defence tight, that always gives us a great platform to build on to score the goals.
