Eastbourne Dynamos 0 - 4 Polegate Town
Another fine performance, and another win. The score could have been a lot more bar some glaring misses in front of goal... you know who you are.
Personally I think we clicked in this game and everyone was trying to get the ball down and play. Helped by a surprisingly great surface at OTR.
There was a lot of unselfish play all over the park with the back four looking as solid as ever. Their ability to play from the back breeds confidence throughout and some of the one and two touch football was a joy to watch. Sometimes it doesn't always come off, but this is how the game should be played.
Clive was again pivotal in the middle, and the only moan was that we trust his ability a little two much at times and leave him with a plate that occassionally over runneth!!
The flanks worked well as units and were always an outlet. The movement was better this week, lets take this on into this weekends tough game against another bunch of Liams mates (I didn't think he had any!!).
Well done lads, let's keep it up!

Re: Eastbourne Dynamos 0 - 4 Polegate Town
I'd agree with that skipper. This week we started from the first whistle, rather than at half-time, and kept possession much better. We played shorter passes rather than the hopeful long ball, maybe because with an old un' like me up front it was forced upon us!
We also kept our shape much better playing 4-4-2 rather than the previous few weeks of long periods of 4-2-4 or sometimes even 4-1-5! I'd agree we rely on Clive a little too much but he is class so we get away with it. Also Mark will admit he's more of an attacker than central midfield player so we knew Clive would sometimes be left exposed, which we won't be able to do against better teams. However, Mark had a good game in a new position.
If we'd managed to put away even half our chances the score would have been closer to double figures and I don't think would have flattered us. I'll put my hands up to one glaring miss (4 less than Sparky though ;-)), but I'll use the excuse of my bad knee....I knew where I wanted to put the ball but my knee was telling me "no chance".
Frustrating that I won't be lining up with you guys in the game against Heathfield as that will be a good test for us.

Re: Eastbourne Dynamos 0 - 4 Polegate Town
We certainly played some great passing and moving football. Their first player to touch the ball was their keeper, so to get a shot in before they had touched the ball is a great start to a game. The tempo was great right from kick off which was good unlike previous weeks where we've only started to play well in the 2nd half.
Next week will be a tough game. We need to make sure we take our chances in this one, as we wont have as many as we did vs Dynamos, so we need to make the chances we do create count. It'll certainly show us what level we should be playing at against this sort of opposition, as it will be a good test.

Re: Eastbourne Dynamos 0 - 4 Polegate Town
When we keep the ball on the ground and the passes short we look a good team. There were periods in this game when we did just this but there is still a tendency to hit the early ball forward and lose possession, putting ourselves under unnecessary pressure.
The surface did help our passing game although it seemed which ever direction you were running it was always up hill!! We need to concentrate on attacking and defending as a unit, creating space and moving for each other and above all, for which I am probably most guilty, is TALK to each other and support.
I don’t think we should focus too much on missed chances, (especially in a game in which I wasn’t the main culprit for a change!!) I agree that in a close game, possibly this weekend, we need to put our chances away but the encouraging factor is the number of chances we create. Instead of pointing the finger and having a go at each other, we need to get our heads up and encourage. It’s easy to shout and have a go at someone for giving the ball away or not being in the right position at the right time or missing the target but did they mean to do it?? No, obviously everyone wants to win and play well so let’s help each other to do just that!

Eastbourne Dynamos Report from their website
This is the report left on the Eastbourne Dynamos website about the game
Eastbourne Dynamos took on another new team this week in the second round of the Eastbourne Junior Cup. Polegate Town are made up of players and management who formerly played under the name of Willingdon seconds.
Dynamos manager Gary Taylor had a full team to pick from, and opted to stick with the side that played well in last weeks defeat to Little Common.
Early possession went to Polegate as they pressed forward with every opportunity, but failed to really test Martin Bell in the Dynamos goal.
Polegate managed to take the lead on 30 minutes after a corner was first collected by Bell but he couldn't hold onto it amid the mass of bodies and Polegate bundled the ball across the line.
Polegate doubled their lead 5 minutes later after being awarded a free kick from looked like a fair challenge. Dynamos had no complaints about the goal though as the Polegate player got on the end of the set piece, unmarked at the near post to head the ball into the net.
Bell was called into action again early in the second half but made a good save to prevent another goal. Dynamos came close to scoring when Likeman fizzed a shot over the bar from a free kick.
Dynamos conceded a third in the 70th minute when Dynamos failed to stop the Polegate fullback, whose cross was meet at the back post and nodded in.
Wayne Burke forced the Polegate keeper to make his first meaningful save when he got his free kick round the wall and it looked to be heading for the bottom corner.
Neil Taylor and Stephen Fletcher combined well to fashion a good chance, but when the rebound fell to Taylor again, his shot went inches wide with the keeper beaten.
Bell made another good save with 10 minutes to go, but Dynamos conceded a fourth in the 82nd minute when Polegate went straight through the middle of the Dynamos defence before beating the keeper with a neat finish.
In the final minutes, Eastbourne had another free kick, which was again well saved by the keeper.
In the end Dynamos went out of the Eastbourne Junior Cup to a worthy opponent, but can be pleased that with all of Polegate's possession, they failed to turn it into goals and didn't like it when Dynamos showed a little fight to win the ball and kept going till the end.
Dynamos MOM: Wayne Burke
