As the captain feared this one has to go down as a game of missed opportunities.

We certainly represented ourselves very well and probably deserved the win but it was the final third that we perhaps let ourselves down. Credit must go to their back four for some good solid defending but we didn't stretch them enough or take advantage of their weaker right back.

We'll have to move the ball around a lot better in the oppositions half if we're going to undo the better defences we come across.

This week should be a good opportunity to build on our attacking play with another potential tough game. Lets get those heads up and forget the missed chances and penalties and let Eastbourne gunners know what we're all about!!

Not being able to play or watch this week, it's difficult for me to comment. However, having been involved in many penalty shoot-outs over the years (and having missed my fair share) you're right that whoever took and missed the penalties should not worry or dwell on it. Even at this low level of football it takes a bit of guts just to put your name down for one.

More importantly, whatever the display, a 1-1 AET against the team that has led the Premier Division of the East Sussex League for most of the season is a good showing. Our downfall, as we probably knew, would be that we've had to play a lot of very easy games which have not tested us. Then when you come up against a good side we're not quite ready for it.

Lastly I think fluency of our attacking play has not been helped by a number of forced changes upfront and in midfield through injury, holidays, work committments etc. Defensively we look solid because most of the games have featured the same back four, or maybe just one change.

Heads up, that one's gone now. Let's make sure we win next Saturday. Or maybe I'll be lucky and it'll be called off! ;-)
