Re: Favorite Cartoon?

Not too many cartoons I watch these days which is kind of surprising given how addicted I was as a kid. I've seen lots of Simpsons. I do like some anime, particularly some of the work of Miyazaki like Totoro.
As a kid some of my favorites were Kimba the White Lion and Speed Racer. It's sort of a new trend to have animated cartoons for adults. Lots of people can't get past the idea that they are for kids. In fact I think some assume that if it is animated they can sit the kids in front of it and not know the content. Some people don't care what their kids take in and would probably be surprised at some of it. They don't have the moral codes like they used to. It's give them what they want.
For comic strips I used to love Farside. Now with that on retired one I like is Speedbump.

My favorites have always been the old Looney Tunes. Foghorn Leghorn is my character of choice. I also loved Super Chicken. emoticon

The Simpsons is just a given...it's the longest running show ever, besides Meet The Press emoticon Have you ever seen Futurama? I wish they'd make more episodes of that too...

Speed Racer was cool, but for some reason, I never got into anime...the technique fascinates me though

I watched Looney Tunes all day every day when I was a kid but I haven't seen them in a long time...Bugs, Elmer, Daffy, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Pepe le Pew...awesome!

Super Chicken was funny...so was that Secret Squirrel guy and Dastardly. Man, I haven't seen Super Chicken in years...I can't believe I remembered.

Thanks for the blast from the past! emoticon

Re: Favorite Cartoon?

I'm not that into the standard fare of anime. It seems to be a parallel of the video game industry with the usual violence and exploitation. There is anime that is not of that style though. "My Neighbor Totoro" has a peaceful scenario, deeper human relationships with the main perspective from a young girl and most every scene looks as though it could be a painting in a gallery. The American dubbed version is the only one I've seen and have heard it is annoying to those who have seen the original but even so I found it enjoyable. Some here would like "Graveyard of the Fireflies" as it is a sad commentary on war from the view of children. It was one of this artists earlier works and sad but beautiful.

Other cartoons, Can anyone place the names
Gloop & Gleep?
