Pigots Directory Pontefract 1834
I wonder if anyone can help me. I found Pigots Directory 1834 for Pontefract and have found 2 of my relations, William Downing and John Hargrave listed.
Does anyone know if this directory was a regular occurance or if there are any later directories available for Pontefract?

Hi
Commercial directories were produced by many different companies.
There is Baines 1822 directory, Pigot's 1829 & 1834, White's in 1837 and many more for different years.
The University of Leicester have scanned hundreds of them nationwide and they are available to search & view FREE at
http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/
Select by decade, region, and search by keyword. Many Yorkshire ones included.
